The fighting Nick Saban’s seem to have plucked our best receiver. The portal giveth and taketh away.
They retired it in the middle of the year last year. That’s why he switched to #1 for the upcoming season. If he flew the coop while being poached by Bama he never deserved to wear the #8!
IMO the #8 should be retired by the ville!!!
“And you can also get players to get in the transfer portal to see if they can get more someplace else than they can get at your place." No Mr.Saban you are actually not supposed to get players to go in the portal. This guy told on himself. Doesn’t matter though everyone knows it’s happening.![]()
Alabama coach Nick Saban warns NIL model in college football is unsustainable, will lead to buying players
Saban's words echo recent complaints from other coaches about NIL lawswww.cbssports.com
Number 8 is retired. Bama recruiting our players before they are in the portal is straight up cheating. Sports have become interesting because of that. Athletic Depts should lose non profit status, as all AD are totally all about the 💰If he flew the coop while being poached by Bama he never deserved to wear the #8!

But maybe this is what the NCAA wants?Football is a monster. It is the college version of the MLB. Small market teams have no shot.
NIL for basketball is a game changer. Not so much for football. Louisville will always be outspent. Until a recruiting class is signed no reason to get excited. There is a clear pecking order. When teams higher in the pecking order need a position filled they will come picking/paying.
At some point NCAA is going to have to step in and cap a teams (not players) NIL spend. If they don’t then we will never see a shift.
I guess what does TV want? Aren't they forming a super SEC league? They don’t control football so it is more what the TV wants. The NCAA—technically the schools should want more parody in football. It brings more eyes it just does.
And then, the “old school” $100 handshake and other traditional cheating methods, that so many schools were already so good at, will kick back in when the “cap” is reached. At some point NCAA is going to have to step in and cap a teams (not players) NIL spend. You are right but a cap allows the bad cheaters to compete. Before NIL there were a lot of schools that refused to cheat. NIL opens the doors to legally pay the game. Now everyone is at the table. I doubt all 85 guys at the bigger schools are getting significant NIL. Let’s say Bama has 50 4-5 stars. They all don’t make the same. It would make it a much more competitive market. And then, the “old school” $100 handshake and other traditional cheating methods, that so many schools were already so good at, will kick back in when the “cap” is reached.
There will always be ways to cheat “better”. Even after cheating is “legal”![]()

Yes they would still get players in the black market but it would be more difficult and more expensive.
Without a cap the SEC and Big Ten will outspend everyone and it won’t be close.
