He deserves to be demoted or fired, but holding Cuse to 10, while his predecessor gave up 28,
will be hard to can.

The defense has been nite and day the last two games.

Should have been playing like this all season.

Sirmon.........yay.

If his defense continues to play the way they have the last 2 weeks, I’ll be fine with him returning.

I have to give the guy a lot of credit after ripping him and his underachieving unit. His passion on the sidelines today was great to see and his guys responded. Up front they were disruptive and getting off their blocks while the secondary was seemingly always in the right place. A healthy Jaire doesn’t hurt.

Better late than never and just in time to save a season.

I agree I can’t hammer someone when the D keeps improving. His defense hold SuCk and I’m good with him.... for now.

UofL can’t afford to fire him so his defense improving is great on many levels.

Take 3 'D' starters off of anybodies defense not named Alabama or Clemson, and the drop off is noticed. Cards need to keep recruiting and building quality depth.

Sirmon, still has a lot to prove to me....the last 2 weeks are a pretty fair start though. Hope the uk game has similar results and that the Cards go to a good bowl game and go out winners for Lamar and the other Sr's!!!!;):):D

Next weeks game lines up as one of the more interesting in this rivalry series with both teams coming in with 7-4 records. Cards on a win streak and cats on a losing streak. Could be a barn burner. and I don't care if the Cards only win by 1.....but feel that is unlikely to happen IMO.

Will be interesting game though for lots of reasons.:p

Yeah losing your 2 all American defenders is quite the blow. Especially when you’re not pulling in 5 star recruits every year. Sirmon will be fine once he has depth, but his schemes aren’t next level.

Sirmon doesn't have to coach a Top Ten defense. He just can't field one in the Bottom Ten. Not as long as Petrino is coaching the offense...

Football is truly a week to week grind. Teams can look awesome 1 week and just terrible the next week. At the end of the day these are kids they are going to have high and lows. Louisville lost their 3 best defenders at all three levels and they didn't have players to fill in. While this still isn't a good defense they are playing better and more physically. That is good to see.

Overall, the defense doesn't have to be great for Louisville to be really good. They are building the kind of depth you want on offense. They are going to be good on that side of the ball. The key is building a defense that is ranked in the top 30-50. That is really hard to do and will take multiple years of building depth.

It has been a weird year all around, poorly attended games, bad vibe in general to the staffs and players credit they all rebounded nicely. Next week will be physical it will be interesting to see how they perform..

I'm wondering if the Cards are doing the opposite of last season. Instead of faltering late, perhaps they are starting to surge?

This is what I’ve been alluding too. We had injuries early coupled with inexperience. This setup for exactly the opposite of last year. And it seems to be playing out that way. We will see!

Just like in 2015, Lamar’s Freshman season.

Feels a lot better. Let’s get the next one and win a Bowl game. Generate some momentum for next year when Jawon, Dae, Colin and Dez take over. There’s some interesting young talent coming back on defense too.
