Game 2 vs Houston

Strong performance by Ruxer, who went 6 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run. Cards were down most of the game like last night until the top of the 6th when Whiting tripled with 1 out. Sturgeon walked and then stole second. Solak reached on a fielding error allowing Whiting to score. Then Gardner (Mr. Double) had a two run double that allowed the Cards to take the lead at 3-2. Sturgeon came in to pitch and has held the Cougars in check. Cards leading 3-2 going into the 9th. I'm sure Burdi will be coming in the bottom of the ninth.

OMG! Almost jinxed us. Burdi came in and uncharacteristically walked the 1st batter followed by a wild pitch. He managed to load the bases with 1 out after misplaying a bunt that allowed the runner to reach. With the bases loaded, Nick forced a double play to give the Cards the win!!!!! 3-2! Cards win the series and now go for the sweep! Big, big win!

I think I left out that Lucas had a sac fly in the 6th and Gardner's double only scored 1 run. Whiting had 2 hits and Chittenden had 1.

Wow ... that is huge. And you DID almost jinx us! But, this is the second time Houston has seen Burdi, so giving them some credit, maybe they made some adjustments.

It sure would be nice to get this sweep tomorrow.
