A tough, rain-delayed loss yesterday for #5 Louisville against #2 Iowa at Trager Stadium.
The Hawkeyes tallied both their scores in the second quarter on Louisville, who were outshot 8-5 in the match.
The squads did take the field in the third quarter but remained out there only a minute before storms moved into the area. The Cards were about to attempt a penalty corner, but were sent back to the locker room and the stands emptied. A 2-1/2 hour delay ensued.
Tough loss to a very good team. The Cards did hold Iowa to their lowest goal production off the season, but it was the first shutout Louisville has experienced since Boston College blanked Louisville 1-0 back in March.
The loss snapped a seven-game Cardinals win streak and their 12-game home win streak.
Louisville returns to action Friday when they'll face the Duke Blue Devils in Durham.
