I attended the St. Jerome's picnic at Fancy Farm on Saturday. Wow! There were about 20,000 in attendance, enjoying the politics and mutton. Great food. It looked like about two thirds of the crowd were McConnell supporters and one third Grimes. Senators McConnell and Rand Paul spoke, with Rand Paul giving a poetic speech that was humorous and serious. Ag Secretary James Comer had a substantial contingent, and Congressman Ed Whit field gave a rousing speech. Grimes made every effort to distance herself from Obama. while the GOP speakers successfully tied her to Obama. Grimes supporters looked disullisioned, while McConnell's were in larger numbers and more enthusiastic.
