We have posted on here before that Tyra got the job by appointment and not by a job search. Now they say they are going to do a search for AD, does anybody believe the search is real? I think it is a fake search and at the end of the day Tyra will still be the appointed one.

At this point I'm all for Tyra being hired, however the head coaching hire will say a lot about him as an AD.

I do appreciate seeing him at many of the games and on the floor with the players He seems like he has a love for athletics and the University.

Would that lobe for athletics be in his brain, his ears or his lungs?

I don't want anyone from the Postel- Grissom group anywhere near our program. That includes Postel & Grissom. If you're excited about Tyra because he goes to a lot of our games and he is on the floor with our players you either have low standards or you're related to Tyra.
I want someone who is qualified to be an athletic director at a major university and his resume doesn't reflect that.

His skill set matches up well with the skills needed to manage an athletic department.

Agree. No puppets. His “appointment” is total BS.

His only athletic background is he played baseball, I played baseball & football. I played baseball from the time I was 7 years old until I was 24 and I own my own business. I guess that makes me qualified as well.

If you have demonstrated experience running a large organization, strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a great sports acumen then perhaps you are qualified.

What AD in our past have we hired that does not come from an Athletic background? By athletic background I mean someone who is from another university as there AD. Someone who worked within the athletic department and was promoted. Someone who was a long time coach and very well connected to athletics through his coaching experience.
Tyra hasn't done anything other than smile and shake hands and your all goo goo eyed. Because of Postel Grissom and Tyra contributions to the university are way down. I seriously doubt that these clowns will be able solve the problem. We will go into a long, slow, decline.

It’s a business. He may not have any AD experience, but he doesn’t need to. Jurich was at Colorado St. He built UofL without a lot of original experience. It’s not like Tyra needs some special ability for him to be AD to keep things running. He has to keep the coaches here (which he has so far), hire a great BB coach (task), and keep it stable.

He doesnt have to build anything, even though the Baseball expansion is probably going to happen as originally planned.

Some just have a major bias against Tyra.

I think there is a lot more to it than what you think. He has to raise money to pay the bills and so far because of the take over or whatever you choose to call it the money is drying up. Things have been easy for him so far he just shakes hands and smiles everything is in a good place because of Jurich.
The idiots in charge just fired the top fundraisers so he has to go out and find new donors. I am really curious to see who they interview for the AD in this new job search. I wouldn't be surprised if they never make public the so called candidates. That in itself will tell you this is search is just a scam.

Lose-Lose situation for Tyra.

Donors withdrawing because of Postel/Grissom, people include Tyra in that.

Tyra makes a good hire in a month, wonder what people will spin about him then.

I coached 3rd base in softball, when they hire you put me on the staff. Thanks!

I agree that he needs to show the ability to fundraise and the animosity that Grissom and Postel have created make the task even greater. However Tyra has great ties to the big money in the city. I have reason to believe that an outsider would be in a better position to fundraise than him.

I like Vince and he has UL's best interest at heart, but he's not qualified to lead a program such as ours. Since Postel and Grissom want him as permanent that eliminates him for me. Sorry Vince, but when you sleep with dogs you get fleas.

Don't want to see you supporting him when he hires a good coach in a month.

Just because he hires a good coach, that can't change your mind because Postel and Grissom want him.

Am I doing this right?

Like I have said Tyra was appointed to replace the most productive AD in school history. As a matter of fact if you take all the AD’s in the history of the University of Louisville and put all their accomplishments together they did not achieve what Jurich did. You brag like Tyra has done something great and he is proving to be a good AD, he hasn’t done anything yet. He gave contract extensions to the people Jurich hired and he shows up and smiles at a lot of our games. Stating facts is not a conspiracy it is a sad truth and if Tyra makes a good hire I’ll admit it will you if it is a bad one?

Ya'll act like he's done something wrong just bc he's involved with P and G

You do realize if they hire another AD, Postel and Grissom will be the ones pulling the strings. The only way to meet your requirements is for Postel and Grissom to be gone. The timeline isn't going to work out the way it needs to so you are going to be stuck with someone that is picked by those 2 or they are going to have the ultimate say.

Cycle27, you bring up a good point so how long are we stuck with our INTERIM President.? I have close friends who contribute money to the university. I have friends who just got season tickets after years of waiting and friends that have season tickets for over 30 years.
They're all thinking about canceling there season tickets and cutting off donations to the university because of these clowns. I look at Tyra as an insider and part of this because he was appointed to his position. I think having a fake job search now is nothing but damage control.

Watson, you need to step back and look at reality. We lost the most productive AD in school history, contributions to the athletic department are way down and we have people in charge who aren't qualified. The future of the university is not as bright as it once was. If we continue down this path with these people our lack of success will be an easy I told you so.

Some kill me.

Scotty Davenport has won an NCAA Championship and a 2nd.

Been National COY.

Been conference COY three times.

And on-and-on.....

But some say he’s unqualified to be our HBBC for lack of experience.

But OTOH, some wet themselves while proclaiming VT as a P5 ready AD because he’s ran a large organization, has strong interpersonal and organizational skill, and has an “great” sports acumen?????

There are Police Commissioners with that resume.

I don’t have anything against him personally because I don’t know him. But it’s BS that we have an AD that has never drawn a paycheck in the field of athletics.

That above all else spells unqualified.

Scotty Davenport is more qualified. ;)

People who have cut their donations/tickets will jump back on board when a great coach is hired in a month or less. Most of this is because of the administration. However, if we're 24-7, 25-6, right now, most wouldn't really care about what's going on in the upper admin. And that's the truth. The product on the floor has SOME say in this as well.

I disagree Jurich was very much liked by the fan base. In order for Louisville to get this bad taste out of their mouth those with interim label will have to be replaced. Grissom will have to go as well he is not looked upon very favorably by the fan base.
I agree that winning will change things but the way this whole thing was mishandled won't disappear. I am not confident that the group in won't continue to make things worse.

Since you are specifically referencing my post on Tyra, let’s be clear - I never said Scotty wasn’t qualified. I wish he had been coach this year. Secondly, a large part of being a basketball coach requires specific technical skills. However an AD position does not require specific technical skills. It is primarily an administrator position. The one puesdo-technical portion is fundraising. It remains to be seen if Tyra has that skill.

It's hilarious how little direct experience some think is needed to fill a position. I take it most of our Tyra advocates have long careers in human resources.

Tyra's a well-to-do fanboy. As far as AD credentials, most of us are as qualified as he is...

I want a younger coach. One that will hopefully be successful here for 10-20 years. Believe me, I know he can coach but another huge concern - can Scotty recruit at the D-I level. Look at the makeup of his teams at Bellarmine. Can he recruit, relate, and be successful coaching D-I athletes. He’s not my choice. Probably at the bottom of my top 15-20.

Respectfully, a lotta coaches successful at that are on the FBI hit list...

I'm not for Tyra. He came in as a sub with no prior experience. He is well connected in the Grissom cult.....No F'n Thanks!

You think the Big Blew only pays their basketball players? He very well could have drawn a check ( more likely in the form of cash) in the field of athletics. Think about it.o_O

We can’t go through this process not willing to roll the dice. I heard the Hebert interview with Postel & Tyra I’m sure you did too? Correct? While I don’t care for either them myself, one of them (I think Postel) stated the plan. It was basically move forward and structure the contract to protect the university. I think that’s a sound plan, that’s all that can be done at this point IMO. You can’t be afraid to breathe for fear of pollution, no?

We have options in lieu of rolling the dice. You don't have to say "I must roll the dice." No you don't.

As with Pitino's termination, TIMING is important. But you don't expect incompetent people to make these right decisions, do you?...
