Great news !

Im spreading it around.

And just think coming out of HS he was a regular ole 3* player that was at best the "Mighty SEC" backup plan as a recruit...gotta feeling GG Robinson-(not going to say he will become Rankins) will be a very good player for Louisville.

Also ironic...a QB that nobody heard of coming out of HS Carson Wentz will likely either go to Cleveland at 2nd Overall or Dallas at 4th Overall...again...not about "Stars" but your talent, desire and game..

Good point also as pointed out in another thread UL 14,to the NFL in the last year only out done by Bama. That leaves plenty of the mighty SEC behind us. So if your a 3* you have a better chance of going to the NFL with UL than with heck name a SEC school; even BAMA because their players going to the NFL are 4-5*.

In the last 2 years

Here it is:

7. Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville

Rankins was clearly the best defensive lineman in Senior Bowl practices, as he showed explosiveness in one-on-one pass-rush drills and stuffed the run during 11-on-11. He has compiled 15 sacks the past two seasons and is a load for any O-line to handle because of his rare combination of quickness
and power.

....and I'm glad he's gone :). UL should have a very solid Defense next year but that guy will be hard to replace. Brown coming back is a good place to start but 1st round Dtackles are just so rare at anyplace not named Alabama.

This morning from Sports Illustrated Peter King Monday Morning QB-(MMQB)

3.Rising defensive star?Sheldon Rankins. “He made one of the great plays I’ve seen on tape this year—a scoop-and-score against Boston College,” said Mayock. “But not only that, he made a move on a BC guy while he’s finishing picking up the ball. He’s one of the great three-technique prospects in the draft this year, and he’s played all over the line. His value’s really going up.” Mayock says Oregon’s DeForest Buckner, a tackle or end, will be a certain top-10 pick.
