The thing I get out of all this is Jurich sure had a lot of supporters, but man over 20 years he sure has a bunch of enemies. Enemies had nothing to say for years until his friends program started to self destruct. With every problem/scandal his enemies started to be more effective. His entire downfall is tied to Pitinio. While I understand he and supporters don't like it he let his flagship program bring the entire athletic program down.
The irony on this whole thing is Louisville historically didn't fish in the same pond as the other bluebloods for top players yet they are the poster boy of the corrupt system without landing or playing a paid for player.
My thinking of bringing the whole athletic program is basketball is the revenue source for many of the non revenue sports. It is probably an embellished statement by me but the concern is basketball revenue declining due to all the changes. If that occurs non-revenue sports will be impacted. With that said they bring in the right coach it will reenergize the fanbase. I don't think Padgett can do that.I see your point but it didn’t bring down the entire athletics program. That’s what Jurich’s enemies would like everyone to think. Which is complete BS. All but one program is running very well. And personally in the scheme of things yes BB is important here, but it’s not to the majority throughout the country. FB reigns and brings in the big bucks for now. It’s also much harder for a FB program to recover. The BB program will recover IF the BOT wants it too. I think Tyra will do well if he’s allowed too. I personally do not trust the BOT especially Grissom or Bevin’s for that matter.
Jurich made the mistake I’ve seen many people make throughout my career. And that is continuing to support someone when they should have cut their ties. Although I’m not sure many Universities would have fired a HOF coach after the stripper deal. Heck we’re the only ones that have fired a head coach over the Adidas deal. So I’ll say it again Grissom took advantage of the situation to fire Jurich. But Jurich gave him the silver bullet.
It will be hilarious down the road if we find out ESPN has ties to Nike. And their coming at us to also break Adidas. I know a far fetched thought, which would make it even funnier. I find it odd that we’re the only ones catching so much over the Adidas deal and yet we have had no one arrested. Very strange.
Actually I thought the show was pretty fair except for the part about UL "stealing" from the state because of the low lease payment at YUM. And I hope every Card Fan who is represented by Jim Wayne votes against that SOB for the idiotic comments he made on this show.
