ESPN and the split screen

Are you watching the Peach Bowl on ESPN2 by any chance? It's also on ESPN, but without the split screen.
Yes, I was and then I found the game on the other channel. The split screen is awful I don't know why they would think that is better for the viewer. I guess if you want to get the feeling of being a technician sitting in a trailer at the game deciding what is the best angle to show the viewer.
