So tell me again, who is acting like this is their super bowl?
I'm going to give you a chance to consider a counter point of view.
Do you think Rick Pitino cares about this rivalry? If he did, he would have never accepted the coaching position @ Louisville. UK fans treated him very well during his tenure. His priorities are nowhere in line with the common fan of either team, no matter how badly fans of both programs want his priorities to be just like their own, or somewhere in the same neighborhood.
Pitino's practice schedule for his team is based on getting the team better, period. If he chooses to work the team during holidays, he is doing so to help prepare the team for the entire season, and holiday time allows the team to focus on basketball only, classes are out of session.
I understand you want to think Pitino is working real hard to get a win over Kentucky. He is competitive by nature, I will not sit here and tell you he doesn't care about the outcome of the game. He wants to win all the games. He's just not putting any Super Bowl priority on a non-conference game in December.
If he valued games in December to the level you are thinking, he would not have complex offensive and defensive schemes that make the game difficult for his young players to grasp early in their careers. Everything Rick Pitino does is for an end game, and his end game is just not December. One of the things Louisville fans dislike about Pitino is his failure to put more of a priority on this game.
He is always looking long term to getting them ready for conference play and March.
We understand it's your Super Bowl. You wouldn't be hanging out over here if you didn't have a lot at stake. And I'm not going to lie to you and tell you I view this game as just another game either.
But what you are doing is, stretching reality to fit your narrative.
