Tech doesn't have a good rebounding team, so they aren't able to exploit that weakness that UofL has. The UofL team I saw today won this game on pure will. When they went down by 10 at Duke, they quit. Today they went down by 10 and fought back. It all starts with effort and replacing Anas with Sutton who plays hard ALL the time created a team atmosphere to play hard. I liked the coaching move.Q/Perry/Sutton/Adel/Ray...
That looked like a vintage UofL team in the 2nd half.
Okay maybe not that good but that looked like a good 5.
Could be that Va Tech isn't much also.
Thoughts?
The move was two fold or three fold. VT has only 1 starter at 6-10 and the rest was guards. So it made a little sense to go small. That was almost negated by the fact that VT was determined to attack the rim instead of shooting their normal 3’s. Sutton’s and Perry’s hustle were infectious and Adel’s willingness to focus on rebounding and playing defense were the difference.Tech doesn't have a good rebounding team, so they aren't able to exploit that weakness that UofL has. The ability to wear teams out is a thing of the past. There are too many tv timeouts, fouling and stoppage of play to review plays and timeouts in general allow teams to rest. Couple that with ability of athletes getting stronger (except Mahmoud) and it’s no problem for kids to play 4O mins. Now if you want to play like Arkansas... Mahmoud, McMahon, Snider would be sucking wind. Adel and King wouldn’t because they would just let their man go by.I still believe there is enough talent on this team to platoon 2 teams and wear the opponent out.
Williams Mahmoud
Spaulding Adele
Sutton Gnorra
Snider McMahon
Perry King
Using the premise of two teams, how would you line them up?
