We have the second tallest team in the NCAA. Why do we not play a zone more? Playing man would be great but we lose our man ALL THE TIME. Just play zone and use your length to advantage.

Not sure why we don’t. We used it against WKU and it looked affective other than one bomb 3.

Can anyone explain to me why we don’t. I’d appreciate it

Zone is lazy mans defense.
Unless youre a master of it like some of the former guys matchup defense.

Defense is about intensity, instinct and desire.

This team has very little of those attributes.

It’s an easy defense, but we CANT guard 1 on 1. Call it lazy or no desire, but this team can’t keep their man in front of them. With our length we should play zone at least SOME of the time like against WKU

I disagree, we can't guard 1 on 1...we can, the problem is that our guys are standing to straight up, and not in a down stance, so they can shuffle their feet keeping their guy in front of them. Then add, their hands are down, when they should be up and stretched out. Making it harding for their guys to go around them, while also letting them keep their weight evenly distributed to maintain their balance.

Not sure why, they haven't mastered that yet...considering they have all been playing D1 basketball for multiply years.

The zone was effective against WKU. I was actually surprised how effective it was. I forgot Stansbury was coaching WKU though.

It would be nice if they ran zone more but agree with previous poster. In order to run zone effectively you have to understand M2M principles and be able to guard. I remember a possession when it appeared that they were in some type of zone and one of the Lipscomb guys just slipped right behind the zone. This team is just so inconsistent on defense (everything really). To be fair, there was a few possessions tonight and other games where they played solid defense so they have proven they can do it.

I think the zone could be effective especially with their length and size but they just have way too many lapses defensively. Hard to watch.
