Darius Perry

Perry is the key to a successful season. IF he plays as well as he did today come NCAA tourney time, the Cards will win the national title. He was outstanding!!!

Been waiting for the guy I saw get his opportunity a few years ago while backing up Snider and dishing out 8 assists, return for his encore.
I always knew he could be the guy that we haven't had around here for a minute.
He's a solid pg when he's thinking dish instead of shoot.

I second that! I’ve been waiting for Perry to become what I thought he could be. Nothing would make me happier for this kid.

Perry's a great athlete, and there's never been a reason he couldn't elevate his overall game. Just takes guys of his ability out of high school time to figure things out. It's the reason I'm good with Mack recruiting players like Perry (Rivals #98) and not much higher.

It's a little early, but I'm amazed at how well these two guys are performing as the starting backcourt...

Watch what he does against the better guards UK,Mich,TT . Not sold on him
I'm truly worried about our guards .Dj is probaly the best but he won't be a factor for awhile .Kimble will be better as he gets more into the flow.

I get it. I want to see Perry play this well and have good games against better teams as well which is why I put that small caveat in my OP about the level of the opponent.

Still it was great to see him play like this when last season he wasn't playing this well even against the lesser OOC teams. He still has plenty of work to do and has to be more consistent but I hope this is just the start for him.

I'm not 100% sold on anyone yet. But what did Perry do last year against ANY backcourt?...

Perry has the feel of the Rick type of PG. He liked guys with a scoring mentality, but wanted to turn them into defenders.

He loved Q and Edgar Sosa, but they just weren’t athletic enough to do what we needed. Siva developed those scoring skills over 4 years, but his ability to play with such a strong pace yet be able to run the half Court was beautiful.

Darius would’ve thrived under Rick. He had the scoring ability that Rick loved, but he also has an athletic body that could play defense as push the ball in transition. Lost a year of coaching with DP and the everything changed last year when Coach Mack stepped in the gym. He’s finally caught up.

Malik, McMahon, Nwora, Sutton and Perry are the last Rick players he brought. It saddens me what we could’ve had the scandal not come into play. VJ would’ve been better, Simmons and Ramey stay, and possibly had a chance at Langford.

Typing that makes me realize that we really are at the end of Rick’s era after this season. This team is pretty much Rick’s recruits mixed with some Grad transfers. I just wonder what I could’ve been with these guys plus the top recruits he brought in

It's more about what's happening between the ears. He's been conflicted about what it is that makes him shine. Do I look better when I'm shooting or when I'm passing. The answer is anyone can launch shots. Not everyone can make others better.

It's not about the competition, it's about his mindset.

Perry’s issue always was that he tried to do everything full speed. He’s matured and now he lets the game come to him rather than trying to force things. Preston Knowles was a little like that his first couple of years and then he settled into a nice consistent player.
