did anyone else get a pit in their stomach when the announcer said they would win up four with five seconds to go? great win
Didn't really pay too much attention to it as I was still pissed over somebody (ESPN or Spectrum) cutting the damn game feed on my TVs at home. Was scurrying all over the place when it finally came back on.

I think I will start calling them the "CARDS" and not the "Lady CARDS". They are doing an outstanding job representing the school and the entire Cardinal family in a time when it is badly needed.

They haven't been the Lady Cards in a long time.
I've seen discussions on this on Twitter. It appears that Lady Cards can be offensive to some. If that's the case, what IS the proper way to distinguish them from the men's team? I really don't want to be offensive to anyone.

If any of you have never been to see these young women play I encourage you to go to the tournament games here and support them. My wife and have had a mini season ticket package for the last 4 years and the games are a blast. Different atmosphere from the men and loads of fun. The Notre Dame regular season game here was equal in atmosphere to any men's game I have ever attended.
The University and the city needed what Jeff Walz and the ladies delivered today.
Go Cards!! Final Four bound!!!!

I don't worry about the distinction. If I need to, I will say Lady's and Men's if I talk about both in the same discussion. Otherwise, I will say or write that the CARDS were outstanding today against a tough Notre Dame team in the ACC Championship Tournament Championship game, especially in the 3rd quarter. They demonstrated that they deserve a 1 seed in the NCAA tourney. I think people will know which CARDS team I am describing.
Please keep in mind that this is not a put-down of the Men's team. I still watch the men's games and root for them. Only 4 teams in each sport that has a tourney bracket, like the NCAA Basketball tourneys, can earn a 1 seed. The Men's team is not one of those 4.

They are the women's team.
That seems to be the preferred term, but why? I don't quite get the political correctness of Lady Cards versus Louisville Women's team. What is it about the term "lady" vs "women" that makes one acceptable and one not? What am I missing here?

Referring to someone as a lady I guess is sexist to some women and since I’m not one, can’t say if it is or isn’t.

I think the argument is the men's team isn't the Gentlemen Cards. They are the Cards. Lady Cards, an outdated term, distinguishes them as something different. They are the Cards. It's a gender equity thing.

I missed it when they said they didn't like the term or I wouldn't have posted that way. When did they say they didn't like it and who was it?

Congratulations to CJW and the Women's Basketball team! You're a bright light in the haze of our athletic department.

I posed the question to our very own former volleyball player Katie George via Twitter. Her response was, "I personally don’t get offended but some do. I think moving forward people want to distinguish the teams as UofL men’s and women’s".

I think there could also be the fact that we have the Lady Birds, who are a dance team and well “visual stimulating” and the basketball team may take offense at being confused with just the use of “Lady”

Not sure why you're so upset. That's who they are, the women's team.
