Long but pretty interesting read on the subject. It says that TV and apparel money are going to lead to a lot more conference realignment until there are only 4 power conferences with 16 teams each. Plus, it predicts a bunch of programs moving between power and midmajor conferences. There's some pretty out there stuff about soccer-style promotion and relegation too.

The moment I read that Louisville has, or is, a large TN fan base was the moment that I realized that this guy was shooting from the hip. His knowledge is low to say the least. He makes statements that any normal sports fan already knows. I'll have a tough time getting that time back in my life.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

We all have wasted time on worst things I'm sure!

However, he did have one idea that shows some merit which resonates locally: Could the Wildcats continue to play SEC basketball while moving to, say, Conference USA for football? Why not?

That idea could gather lots of traction here in Louisville......and inspire much angst for BBN!

Too funny. They still wouldn't win any conference titles in FB.....as we all know so well to be true as the Cardinals were beating them even when in that conference. :oops:o_O

The comments section was worth reading......especially the input provided by a poster named "The Hook"...... good info with lots of well thought out ideas by him.

Even though the article was long and stoked the flames of tradition.....it was an 'outside the box' type of thinking aptly written by an individual name "Capt Chaos". Who knew?

UK has been playing soccer in C-USA for years so they are already a partial member.

Competition and high-stakes finances will eventually shake out all schools and programs. You either carry your weight in a sport, or you fall back.

The future won't be kind to schools like Northwestern and Vanderbilt, or athletic programs like LPT football and Alabama basketball. You don't keep collecting millions in a sport because of your name or how well you do in other sports. A compensation system will evolve that takes all of that into account...
