Is there a rule in baseball regarding aggressive play or unsportsmanlike conduct? His tag was pretty aggressive and unnecessary since Gibson was standing up and was clearly safe. If that had been a football game or basketball game, it is likely that would have been called a personal foul or technical foul. If there is what is the penalty? Do they get tossed from the game?

It has to be some pretty malicious intent to get tossed from a baseball game. Sliding into a bag with spikes in the air, running into a play at the plate with shoulder down(except MLB where its allowed), a pitcher intentionally hitting a batter after being warned. Then there are ethical reasons like a player faking a tag without the ball in his glove, a player throwing his glove at the ball to stop it, or a pitcher using a foreign substance.

There are other situations that may call for an ejection but most just get a warning. I was a bit suprised there wasnt any warnings given in this series. Seems there were some "extra" activities going on both games that could have gotten outta hand but I didnt think the Conde hard tag was all that big of a deal other than adding to a brewing fire. There is a lot more going on in a baseball game then most realize. Trash talking is definitly the norm at the college and high school levels.

I think that hard tag was a pretty big deal. It should have elicited a stern warning. It was basically a punch. Very unsportsmanlike. Rarely have seen anything like it in any baseball game and I watch 100's of them every year.

I agree. The play was basically over and that tag almost was like a punch which in either a basketball game would have been a T or in a football game would have been called a personal foul.
