With a coaching search, the rumors are going to be flying fast and furious.
I’m not going to post every little bit of information out there, but when I do have something worth noting, I will pass along.
As of now, I think Kenny Payne seems to be the likely choice. There’s a couple of big-money boosters that have heavy influence who are pushing for Payne. In addition to all of the other things that makes Payne an attractive candidate, Louisville could have some new money moving forward if they go with Payne.
But… a name off the radar to watch is Mick Cronin at UCLA.
I’m told there’s interest from both sides, and Cronin may be a sleeper candidate to monitor closely.
On Bruce Pearl, I do think that the leaking of Louisville reaching out is an attempt to get more money and facility upgrades. Not saying he’s not an option, but probably not the best sign if the Auburn side is putting things out already.
