Would have been a HUGE disservice for him to not at least be on this list. I may be biased but he is easily top 5 on that list. From where he started to where we are..........MASSIVE turnaround. Several of those coaches were in the preseason top 25, some even top 10. They are doing what they were supposed to do!

The only way Kelsey wins this award is if Louisville runs the table and that still probably won't be good enough.

Do they include the conference tournaments because that will be Kelsey's best chance if they do?

I'm not sure if the awards are for regular season only or not. Most awards in sports don't count post season.

But it's my opinion even if Louisville wins out in the regular season, Kelsey won't win it and won't even come in second. There's nothing today that shows Louisville or it's coach or it's players are taken as seriously as it normally would amongst voters.

Chucky Hepburn was left off the Bob Cousy award I believe it was as an example.

I also doubt Kelsey will win the ACC coach of the year even if Louisville wins out.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't think I will be. Louisville's remarkable resurgence is looked at like a fluke for much of the media and people usually don't vote for flukes.

I personally believe that PK will be the strongest candidate by the end of this season. I do not believe there is a media or ACC bias against UL, but rather outside of Louisville, there has been very little national TV exposure and audience awareness of exactly what Kelsey has accomplished under the most challenging circumstances.

There was very little ACC preseason expectation of UL, and that early season dominating loss to Tennessee resulted in a lot of folks dismissing the Cards as a serious opponent. This mid to late season momentum is gaining attention and people are hearing about UL overcoming the numerous injuries as the wins mount up.

That UT loss back in November should have no bearing on the Cards today. Maybe then for sure but not now. The close losses to UK and Duke haven't moved the needle for Louisville either.

No one had any real expectations for Louisville in November and December so those games were more of a reflection of the other teams performances than the Cards. UT went to #1, UK #5 and Duke #2. Louisville was an afterthought.

Today, expectations for Louisville are still limited despite the 14 out of 15 wins, and the bias is still ongoing. It may not be a personal bias like they don't like the program, but more of a bias that Louisville is just an outlier and not the real deal because of the weak ACC.

With most states now having legal betting, people know about Louisville's success, but a lot of the so called experts are still not convinced. Kelsey has zero room for error as coach of the year as does Louisville for maintaining a top 25 ranking and a good seed in the NCAA tournament.

Scheduling? Bowl destinations (2 in a row out west)? Favorable calls in key FB games (arguable maybe)?

IMO they hate us and wish they’d never invited us after the Jurich/Pitino debacle. And arguably the root cause was TJ getting canned.

We have definitely not carried our weight up until very recently.

There are 18 ACC schools right now, and you and I could make an argument that aside from the aforementioned, every other school in the ACC has been discounted as much as UL in one respect or another.

I will agree that we have WORKED our way up to the top 25% of the league.

We have “forced” them to “like” us with our recent performances.

This has made us attractive to future expansion(s).

However, I think that makes the “old money” even madder.
