Classless stomping on the Bird. KARMA !!!

Theirs nothing there to get upset about BP, it's simply kids getting jacked up before the game.
Are you a mind reader? Do those guys look like they're trying disrespect anyone?
Thanks for agreeing with me - as I said nothing to get hyped up about. And I agree with you - it's simply kids getting jacked up before a game, it just so happens that those kids get jacked up by jumping up and down on the Cardinal Bird logo. Just like four of them did by giving the L's down sign at the McD's game.

It's ok Bill, you can own it - no one will think less of you here.

Is that all you remember about Jorts from that game?
It was in practice the day before the game so it had nothing to do with the game itself. I know, Jorts is your hero for having the game of his life against a weak rebounding Cards team.

It still doesn't excuse the classless move but I'm sure glad an idiot named "Jorts" holds special memories for you.

Dude, I don't understand how you could even bring up 'class' with all the stuff that has come out of U of L the past several years.
Jorts is my all time favorite player and I think he's the best player ever to play the game! Such wonderful memories indeed!

Did it appear to you that they were trying to disrespect anyone? They were laughing and hugging, hardly the way to intimidate anyone.

I don't see anything tasteless or classless in that video, and I'd say the same if it were the Cards at Rupp.

Uhhh, John Wall was at UK for one year and the UK/U of L game was at Rupp Arena that season - and UK did not play an NCAA game in Louisville that year either.

That's when they got to play an annual "home" game in Freedom Hall. Trust me on this one. Wall was doing something to the bird at mid court before the game and a UK assistant ran out and stopped him pretty quickly.

Ok, unintentionally obtuse.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Lol, Tell the truth, had you heard anything about this before opening this thread?
That's how you should know you're overreacting to something.

It was nothing but a team getting up before a game. None of those kids are taunting anyone.

Did you read the article?

Yes, I did. Here's the copied and pasted text for you.

That's what happened Sunday night at Freedom Hall In Louisville when a group of Kentucky players -- who play UNC-Asheville in Freedom Hall Monday night -- took the encouragement of a few fans to stomp on the gym floor Cardinal in a "semi-choreographed routine," according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. (Hat tip: Flubby.) Patrick Patterson was first to plant his feet, and DeMarcus Cousins and Josh Harrellson joined suit soon after.

Coaches stopped the players from going too far -- John Wall was apparently headed over to join in before an assistant yelled at the group -- and John Calipari is none too pleased with the effort ...

“Like I said, we do dumb things,” Calipari said.

So we have Patterson, Jorts and Cousins stomping on the bird, and Wall on his way out to join them. Then an assistant stopped them. Cal wasn't happy with them for it.

So whats the question?

It'll come to you...I think.

Help a brother out. Maybe I'm just kind of dense on this one. I made the claim that Wall was pulled away by an assistant back when UK played one home game per year in FH. I then researched it and showed that 3 other players were also involved and an assistant pulled them away. So I made a claim, then proved my claim to be true.

Still can't see the question on anything I said.

IDK if you're referring to something someone else said in this thread. Can't speak to that or for someone else. Just saying the claim I made has been verified with a link.

After watching the video it didn't appear to be a whole lot of animosity in that group.
Looked like guys getting motivated before the game.
I get the rivalry, but the anger towards this looks like a stretch to me.

Don't all teams gather at midcourt after the early warm ups (before being announced) and do some type of huddle thing? I thought even UL fans had shrugged this one off?

even if they do (which they don't), they wouldn't be out there jumping up and down on the logo, nor would they be scooting across the logo acting like they're wiping their classless asses clean. Classless coaches teach classless acts. Since he is from PA originally, he's should know what a jagoff is. All he has to do is look in the mirror to see one.

We always did when I played
I think jumping up and down at your end, yeah, that's fairly common. Not at midcourt.I went back and watched a somewhat reluctant Hawkins get into the circle and then move away.Classy kid.

No biggie. Just saw on friends (female) FB page where she she was whining about it. All of us that played college ball together (mostly UL fans) said what I said. Thought it was a no brainer.

Like Louisvillian,I'm not mad about it.I can't answer for the players though.

Who's mad? It is what is is. I'm pretty confident most everyone who posts here has WAY more important things in their lives to be worried about.

UofK's coaches teach the way they teach. I'm not concerned or mad about it. I simply expect it whether it's on the football field 2 years ago with UofK football players trying to incite a riot before the game or on the basketball court jumping up and down on the logo of their instate rival this year. Classless is just classless. Someone who doesn't understand what classless is can't comprehend what the word sportsmanship actually means. No skin off my nose.

I didn't push anything. The players wearing blue representing your school did this. If Calipari had even a sliver of class, he would tell them to cut it out. Be respectful of the game and your opponent. Only classless people teach classless acts, and/or ignore them when they're in a position to teach.

Really? You want to bring up class? Really? Geez you won the game, go celebrate that instead of complaining about what some immature players did.

One has nothing to do with the other. It's interesting how you combine the two though. That some type of character flaw? It's OK to accept behavior before the game because of the score after the game? All I can say is wow to that. Just wow.

Cue, I know you're a passionate fan, but I think you're overreacting a tad bit here.

Just common sense Bill. I'm old school (or maybe just old) so showing open signs of disrespect to your opponent is disrespecting the game itself in my taboo world. It's not passion. It's respect. I learned you had to respect your opponent in order to earn respect when I played, and frankly the snowflakes I see playing today would curl up in the fetal position and suck their thumbs crying for mommy had they played this game 40 years ago.

It's cool. I won't be around too much longer. The next generation will carry on with however they wish to play.
Respect for the game or not.

I totally get what you're saying, but the video doesn't show kids disrespecting anything. How can you see the reaction of those players and think they are intentionally trying to show up Louisville?

They aren't pointing at anyone, or pounding their chests. Their hugging, smiling and laughing.

They KNOW exactly where they're at and exactly WHAT they're doing and WHY they're doing it. Don't be naive. It's all good Bill. In the end, the good guys won and that's all I really give two chits about in the first place. Respect or not.
