...and one so far in the 2017 class.

Info furnished for those concerned about recruiting in the shadow of an NCAA investigation...

What scares me the most is the recruiting angle we already struggle to get the top tier players anyway. What if we do take a hit? The coach fllowing Rick, would be stuck with 2/3 star talent. And depending on the coach that would be a bad siuation. Rick is used to coaching up thesse type players can't say that for alot of other coaches .

I don't think RP has been struggling to get top talent. The reason I say that is because he doesn't appear to really be going after those guys. I think RP prefers athletic guys he knows will be around for 4 years.
Carolina is a different situation, they are trying to get the Harrison Barnes type players but with that black cloud hanging over their head it's just not happening and I don't think Roy can get the job done with 2* and 3* talent the way Rick can.

Where do you get the idea anyone following Pitino would be "stuck with 2/3 star talent"? Since the 2011 class, we have had TWO Rivals 3 stars (Angel Nunez and Anas Mahmoud); the rest have been 4 stars, plus 5 stars Chane Behanan and incoming freshman V.J. King. Anyone replacing Pitino would be loaded with 4 star talent. Anas is the only 3 star recruit, along with 4 stars Onuaku, Mathiang, Snyder, Johnson, Adel, Mitchell, and Spalding.

Kyjeff1, I agree with you 100% and I was going to post the same thing. CRP would rather have guys like Siva, Russ and Kuric, players that are talented enough to play at this level but they need 4 years to develop.
I do think he is starting to go after some one and dones to sprinkle them in with his 4 year players. I also agree with you on the fact that Roy at UNC would not win unless he had the 4 and 5 star players. I would put several coaches who are held in high esteem in the same category as Roy, like Calipari.

If anybody believes we are going to be getting top notch talent after this crap is truly not being honest with themselves. I'm sorry recruiting will take a serious hit. So are we going to get any of the recruits that were here this past weekened? Really are we going to get 4 stars moving forawrd heck look at this class we had to go out and get 5th year seniors whom are our best players.

And you have to respect RP for sticking to his guns on how he has managed the program. He could probably get in the mix with Cal, K and Self with the 5* studs but once you do that you start a process where you have to do it every year because those kids leave. If RP can get top 4 star players with size or athleticism on a consistent basis like he has been, and nobody leaves early, you're a threat every year.
I don't know what Russ Smith's rating was coming out of HS but that dude was awesome, I would have loved to see him in KY blue. You had to be glad you had him for 4 years, he was fun to watch.

Point is, you claimed anyone replacing Pitino would be stuck with 2 and 3 star players. I just named you SEVEN 4 stars and a 5 star on the way. You're painting a worst case scenario of talent that doesn't or wouldn't exist. Who IS your team, BTW?

LOL you guys kill me when a person doesn't agree with your own views . I look at myself and team with objectivity.

Ok...then explain how you "objectively" characterize a team loaded with SEVEN 4 star players (only 1 is which an upperclassman) "a team of 2/3 star talent"?

Your correct we will have a roster full of 4/5 star s signed and sealed for 2016/2017 . So are we getting any of the 4/5 stars for 2016 that were here I'm seriuos no joking about it?

Nobody is talking about any incoming class. I countered your claim of current 2/3 star talent by saying we have SIX 4 star underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores) and ONE 4 star upperclassman (a RS Junior). That is what we have on campus, in class NOW (this year and next year). Unless your panic stricken doomsday scenario also foresees a mass transfer exodus.

So, are you retracting your claim that our current talent is 2/3 star level?

Fine, let's talk Syracuse. Just handed down NCAA sanctions in the Spring of this year.

Here are their recent recruits...

2016 class: ONE 5-star, ONE 4-star
2015: FOUR 4-star
2014: ONE 5-star, ONE 4-star
2013: ONE 5-star, ONE 4-star, THREE 3-star
2012: TWO 4-star

Hardly a blip, maybe those three 3-star commitments. Some of you guys worry too much...

Louisville's 2016 class has a commitment from 5* recruit V. J. King and the recruits and their families have said the prostitue story will not scare them away from UL. This information is on the sports page of the Courier Journal.

The only impact the "story" could have is if the recruits think we might get hit with a postseason ban. I guarantee other schools are going to use that line of thinking against us.

I wasn't sure I would ever see the day where UofL fans would point out that they have had a ton of talent in their program. The next step is to start admitting that Rick isn't this two star scrub whisperer. Then maybe we can get to the point where you realize you have tried to recruit a ton of one and done caliber players but simply can't get them.

And your point is? Only Duke and UCONN have won a championship since we have, I prefer the way our team is made up over the constant revolving door crap.

Don't you think North Carolina and Syracuse recruits have heard the same thing from other recruiters? That's the whole point, it doesn't necessarily register...

Nobody recruits a "ton" of OAD players--that is, builds their program on them--except for LPT. So not getting them is not a big issue for Louisville.

We need to get our share of 4-star recruits and hard-working kids with undiscovered potential. Those are the L1C4 kids Pitino wants.

"Elite program", my a$$...

BTW, after doing a little research, I found that the start of the Syracuse NCAA investigation dates back to late 2010. So, I probably should have listed recruits in the 2011 class above as well. I have no recollection--maybe some of you do--when news about the investigation started to leak out.

And in that Syracuse class were TWO 4-star and ONE 3-star kids. The 4-star kids were Michael Carter-Williams and Rakeem Christmas, pretty good ballers...

I also enjoyed watch Russ take over a game when he had to.
