CARDS vs Duke Game Chat

You are incorporating Fantasy Land into the discussion referencing things that could have happened that didn't, and diminishing things that actually did happen by saying those things didn't have to happen. When you bring if this, if that into it, like you are doing over and over here you are living in a hypothetical state, an alternative reality. Some people need mushrooms or something like that to go there but doubt you're doing that on your Friday morning so props to you on pulling off the alternate reality sober.

I don't see you mention one of the Stoops "wins" in the series when he got a gift match against a lame duck interim HC, ya know, something that did happen. Maybe if Bobby didn't mail it in that game would have been different? Whoops almost got me, I threw out the if card. Strike this paragraph from the record.

You think they don't play hard against their other high profile opponents? You think they want to beat Louisville more than Georgia? TN? LSU? FLA? They wanna win all those games.

I think everyone knows UK tries to win when they play Louisville, but thanks for the reminder.
So you don't believe certain games/teams just have a hold on other teams/staffs. Where there's something about a certain team that brings out the best? Generally speaking, my point is showing the history that his team's don't have letdowns against us and play above their heads. 2017 is the only game we just owned it from start to finish.

2013 We were top 10 and they were 2-10, we only won 27-13 with Teddy
2014 We had the 3rd most NFL draft picks and they were 5-7, we held on 44-40
2015 He had them come out and stomp us 21-0 before Lamar saved the game and Bobby's job

Yes, 0-3 was the record, but be real if you don't think that we shouldn't have won all 3 of those games by 20-30 points. They honestly SUCKED and we had way more talent and it shouldn't have even been close or in doubt ever. I know the "you never know in a rivalry game" but Stoops always has them locked in against us, you don't see those letdowns.

2016 We were 20+ favorites and lost the game.
2017 We were big favorite and we dominated
2018 We were the worst team in the Power 5, they ran us out of the stadium
2019 Both teams were 7-5 to end the year, they ran us our of the stadium, probably their best game.

3-1 the last 4 games.

Other than 2017, they clearly play way better against us than their other opponents. Stoops has this as a Super Bowl and they always come out ready to fight us and beat us down.

The blanket statement "haha they don't have wins!!!" doesn't disprove saying they treat us like their superbowl. That the first 3 losses Stoops had, they were underdogs and still played us tough. I think they were underdogs the first 5 games he coached and we should've blown them out every single time. No excuse that we didn't.

It's more about UofL players lacking motivation for the game than it is anything Stoops was doing. UK has been a perennial doormat. I really don't blame the Cards when they didn't come out and blow 'em out like the fans want. They were sleep walking. In the end the Cards figured they'd win especially early in Stoops run, and they were right. They did.

There are also countless examples of games where opponents have made games closer than they allegedly should be. Every team in the country doesn't cover the spread every week. I don't hand out cookies to Stoops for only losing by a few TDs when the spread was 20. A 20 pt spread tells kids they are playing a clown team.

This "chat" reminds me of when ol' Zipp used to say there was nothing to gain when playing UK. When ya beat 'em, you either don't beat them by enough, or they were so awful they get a pass for losing to ya. "I mean there were several years we should've just blown them out of the water early, but his guys had the edge." - Lefors

UK has sucked for decades. That's been their "edge" for a long, long time in the series. The UofL players were fully aware of that, and weren't motivated to play 'em. This explains the series for decades. It's not the case lately though.

The last couple of years probably feel like a lifetime for Louisville fans, but it's just 2 years. Recency does matter, but it isn't the entire story.

Stoops has a losing record against Louisville. He's been blown out once and beaten by multiple TDs a few other times. He'll move to break even if they get the win this year.
IMHO, this is where Satterfield shows his coaching skills. UK will definitely game plan to put pressure on Malik. I want to see how he adjusts or if he treats UK as just another opponent. It used to be this game meant a little more to the kitties, now we can stop a losing streak and secure a decent bowl game with a lot of optimism for 2022! Go Cards!
