UK travels down 1-64 West Wednesday to face the #5 Louisville Volleyball team in the LNFCU in the Battle of the Bluegrass Volleyball version.

It's bit a bit of a quandary for Cats Volleyball this season. UK is 6-2, with losses to Creighton in Lexington and Wisconsin in Madison. UK is ranked #8 in the latest poll, Wisconsin holds the #2 ranking.

The Cats are led by Madi Skinner (98) and Alli Stumler (79) in the kills department. Both were a part of UK's National Championship team from last season. Azhani Tealer leads the Cats in blocks with 35.

On the Cards side. it's the "A" team that leads in kills, with Anna Stevenson producing 65, Anna DeBeer with 64 and Aiko Jones producing 62. Another "A" -- in Amaya Tillman -- leads UofL in blocks with 42 and Jones has 40.

The Cats are on a seven game with streak against Louisville. The Cards last "W" came back in 2012, when Louisville was playing in the KFC YUM! Center and Anne Kordes was head coach . Louisville took a four set match 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, 30-28. The Cards stars that day were Lola Arslanbekova (20 kills) and Katie George was a freshman setter. Another you might remember on that squad is Gwen Rucker, who experimented with both Volleyball and Basketball during her time at UofL,

Keys to a Louisville win tomorrow? Here's how I see it.

-- Let's talk about the block. The Cards are averaging 3.21 blocks per set this year, second in the nation. Tillman is third individually in the nation with 1.83 a set.

-- Dealing aces. Aiko Jones has .65 aces per set and that's eighth nationally.

-- Hit me with your best shot (sorry Pat Benatar) . The Cards .335 hitting percentage is #2 nationally. That needs to continue Wednesday Night against a UK squad that has an impressive 114 blocks this season.

It should be a fun one. ESPNU will provide the live feed and a 7 p.m. start is scheduled.

Looks like the Nebraska game will be featured on the Big 10 channel 527 in Louisville. Are both freshman Paige Morningstar and Cara Cresse being red shirted? They should be practicing with the team at this time. I wonder how Sydni is going to be able to handle volleyball? Serious BB practice starts in October and Sydni needs to go up against players like Dixon, Cochran etc. It also looks like there is little room for another on the volley ball team.

I saw a video of Sydney lifting weights and working out with the basketball team. I have also seen shots of Sydney and Payton making the rounds to other Louisville sporting events. They look like they have settled in and are enjoying themselves.

True statement-from what I read. She was focusing on BB this season and the. Look to do both the next year.

I was looking at the Louisville Volleyball roster does the 6’6” freshmen Cara Cressee play basketball?

The bad guys won the 1st set but we regrouped and looked good winning the 2nd set. I see 6 of the women’s basketball players in the stands. We have some really good players but my favorite has to be Anna Debeers she talented, aggressive and great court awareness.

we win the 2nd set in exciting fashion, there are a lot of players to be impressed with and another player who has had a lot of tough saves is freshmen Elena Scott. She has made some saves that I thought we wouldn’t be able to save.

Well Blew won the 4th set we are going to the deciding set and we didn’t look good in the 4th set. sUcK gained an advantage when they quit try to slam the ball instead they were softly placing the ball on us. We are really good at blocking so blew wisely changed strategy and it worked for them.

Yeah!!! the good guys win. Blew had our number in the 4th set because they quit trying to slam it on us because we are such a good blocking team. Instead they would make soft shots that were well placed and they controlled the 4th set. Happily for me they abandoned what worked and went back to trying to slam it and we kept blocking them. I have to give props to Dilfer who went on a tear on her serves and really controlled the 5th set. I was also impressed with freshmen Elena Scott who made dig after dig to keep sUcK from scoring multiple times.

Kudos to our Libero who was making some outstanding saves. We have a squad that can make a long, deep run in the tournament.
