We are so frustrated with all this. But I think some fans are overplaying the hand.
The roster assembly is on the HC he had a full cycle to blow it up and had tons of PT to offer. We don't know if this roster was the designed plan or if they got rejected repeatedly by the more experienced players that were available in the portal. We know they got rejected by some high end 5* HS guys.
The jewel of the class left at the end of summer the talent "upgrade" is being a little overblown. White looks like the top player and he was nowhere near the leading scorer at Southern Cal last year.
PG and his backup are inexperienced and just not high level when you start comparing to the opposition.
Interior guys are pretty avg at best when you start looking at other rosters. BHH showed no motor. JJ got better but still has no beef. Okorafor feels like a project. Evans is real intriguing and a big upgrade, that might be the biggest area of improvement but that said his offense isn't going to go beyond the dunk and I have to believe he gets a ton of fouls.
I don't see a ton of shooting. Mike James is your guy the others are massive ? marks from behind the arc.
Overall defense should be better especially with Evans at the rim and a few pouters moving on to other places.
What KP did is he applied what appears to be an outdated approach to bringing in a ton of young guys. There's no reason to expect this team to succeed without veteran contributors in that Jr/Sr range and BHH did not show he can be that guy. In a different era we could watch the roster grow but in this landscape you are probably not going to return all the key guys. If the team can show some grit and get the guys you want back to come back then maybe it's getting steered the way they want it.
I think we're in for a rough one and this movie may go on a few more years.
