Can we please get the UofL/UK game away from this weekend?

Is anyone else annoyed that the administration at both UofL and UK continue to schedule this game during a terrible time of year?

There have been multiple times where the UofL/UK basketball game and a UofL football bowl game have been on the same day, forcing fans to choose. Even though it's not the case this year it is almost sure to happen in future years. Heck the Camping World Bowl is being played right now and that's a bowl where UofL could easily be a participant in future years.

What happens if somehow UofL or UK get a NY6 bowl and its on the same thing as the UofL/UK basketball game? Again, forcing fans to choose.

I love the UofL/UK basketball game but it is just a regular season basketball game. There's only so much college football left and I want to enjoy it. A friend of mine is an LSU fan so I'll be at an LSU bar watching the LSU/Oklahoma game. I'll be having to switch between watching LSU/Oklahoma and UofL/UK basketball.

So why have it this weekend? Heck people are out of town visiting family and friends if nothing else. This game used to be before Christmas, why can't we move it to back before Christmas? That way the game isn't played during the craziest week of the year and going up against bowl games.

This is something I'd really like to see the big money boosters push Tyra on. This game needs to be before Christmas. What do you think?

Nope. Bowl games and basketball games will always conflict. If we weren’t playing UK we would be playing someone else still forcing fans to make a decision. We need a tough game going into conference play after playing usually a weak non conference schedule. Nobody would complain if we won once in a while.

True but we would be playing a nobody game instead of UK. Playing a nobody team fans wouldn't care about missing it. What are you going to do if UofL plays a bowl game on the same day as the UofL-UK basketball game? What about if we actually make a NY6 bowl on the same day? I remember when we went to a bowl game in Orlando that was at the same time as the UofL-UK basketball game, it s*cked. I was at that bowl game and had to miss the second half of the UofL-UK basketball game.

It has nothing to do with whether we win or lose, it's about screwing over fans the ability to watch our biggest rivalry game when we are in a bowl game. As I just showed it's already happened before and if we don't change the date it will happen again.

Do you really think it matters if we play UK a week early going into conference play? It doesn't matter one bit. And yes moving it up a week make a huge difference, it takes it out of bowl season.

The game this year for example should've been December 21st, not December 28th.

If we go to CFP game, I’ll go to the football game and DVR the basketball game. Way its going, nothing is going to change with the b-ball game. Make a choice.

A defeatist? I have been a U of L fan for nearly 45 years and have managed to enjoy all U of L sports and manage to watch the games every year. We were the only basketball game between ranked teams so if people wanted to watch good college basketball, they watched UK vs UofL. I think if we were winning, we wouldn’t be griping about one thing or the other.
