With duke punking out at home, Cards should be number 1 going into their matchup with Michigan.

Coach Mack says the Cards havent earned their #2 ranking.

Will the team play up to its potential or get the big head ?

We certainly have enough firepower offensively to be a tough matchup for anybody. The real question is whether we can also become an elite defensive team.

I don’t give a big rat’s @$$ about being number one unless it’s the moment after a National Title is won. I’m not concerned because we have our hands full with WKU on Friday and that comes before we face Michigan at the YUM! Center.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

Hate every bit of it . We are not even a top 5 team at present this just makes Dec games even more stressful. Starting Fri.

Past history says U of L doesn't handle high rankings well. Especially when we are not playing to that level.

I'm having a hard time going into MBB mode, well except UofL. It's nice to still be so into the FB mode. I agree, WKU first!!!! The parity in all men's BB teams is real. We've seen it ourselves against those we thought were 30+ winning point games.

I do not project an undefeated season.

I like the Cards being in the hunt, so being rated highly is not a bad thing.

It's TBD how they will perform as the hunted. Will get a preview Friday.
Speaking of viewing Friday. How do you watch the game? My son keeps telling me its streaming on facebook.

I welcome the challenge of being #1. I watched Georgetown totally outplay Dook the other night, but the refs worked their magic. I've watched UK, Mich. ST play, but I haven't seen Texas Tech and only snippets of N.Carolina. From what I've seen, we are as good as any team in the country. We have veteran players, lets put some pressure on them and see how they respond. It's November, so the early ranking doesn't really mean much.

I don't think it matters very much right now. Being number 1 in any poll in late November means very little. The only time it really matters is after the NCAA tourney and you hoist up that trophy. THAT is when it matters. Let's do that.

Go CARDS!!!

I say we handle it well, I think we’ve shown weakness but we’ve also shown when 2 or 3 players have a bad night we can keep throwing bodies and talent at it and win. Not saying we go undefeated but I’m ok with a little pressure early to see how we handle it.

Does anybody have any data on our record while being ranked #1. I'm pretty sure it's not too great; I don't think we've ever been ranked #1 for too long of a period.

Louisville's only #1 rankings in the AP poll came in the March 16, 2009, and Jan. 14, 2013, polls.

The Cards must win Friday's 5 p.m. EST game vs. Western Kentucky in Nashville to enter the Michigan game with their third #1 AP ranking.

I think that's what I'm hearing also.

I'll post this here too.

To prepare to watch Friday's UofL-WKU game streamed exclusively on Facebook, try going to Facebook and streaming a past game.

You can access Facebook online at facebook.com/LiveCUSA/ or by searching for LiveCUSA in the Facebook app.

You don't need a Facebook account to stream.

I get all the concerns but if it gets us a overall #1 seed going into the tournament with a cake walk into the elite Eight I am all for it. We as U of L fans over think things sometimes. I am sure Duke fans last year were not dreading being #1 all year as it meant exactly what I just pointed out.

I trust coach Mack to get them squared between the ears regardless of polls and rankings. Johnson coming along and MW getting his groove back will be key.

Side note. I was on the board before but my log in somehow got jacked up. Either way, I appreciate the abundance of lucid insight and perspective. As a life long mid westerner who adopted the team in 1980, I follow another college football team and forum with far less objectivity at times. This is refreshing. Appreciate you all.

Thanks for posting the stat here. I'm firmly in the camp with those saying being ranked #1 in November doesn't mean a whole lot.

That said, purely as a fan, UofL being ranked #1 would be kind of cool if they can handle the bullseye. Also, with UofL being a top 10 all time program, the Cards have held the #1 ranking a surprisingly few number of times over the decades.

De-ja vu gang. So if we win against WKU? We go into a game, playing Michigan in '19 as #1, in a season that ends up in being a Final 4 in Atlanta, where Luke gets a 2013 MOP banner hung in the rafters against the Wolverines.

We’ll probably lose to WKU so it may not matter. Mega trap game. Nashville, Friday afternoon, and no network TV.

Man you dudes are some freaking Debbie Downers. This time last year everyone and their Mama was pissing on this University and it's fans for the basketball scandal and the epic failure which was Bobby 2.0.Now U of L is about to claim the #1 spot in college basketball and give a big F U to everyone who ran their mouths and you guys are tucking the feathers between your legs. I don't care if it is for a week, a day, or a month, they are about to put some respect back on U of L's name when they speak it. Go Cards!

And the Women’s Final Four is in Atlanta again, same as 2013.

I just know that Friday and next Tues will be a very telling thing about were this team is heading. I watched Mich today in the Atlantis tourney senior laden team. Better than expected . And this game will be on the heels of if they take care of business fri . Of U of L being ranked #1. 2013 all over again .

I don't think anybodys being a debbie downer . Just revisionist history. And from what we have seen so far this year from this team. Some fans are not letting their fandom overtake what their eyes are seeing. And coach Mack if you have been listening to his conferences hasn't been giving his team a glowing review either.

I'm not speaking for all fans just my self.

Who here wouldn’t be surprised to see Kansas leap frog us from #4 after winning the Maui tournament?
