Bobby Valvano is a TOOL

He tries too hard to apease both fanbases. He does compliment Uk and Cal alot though. However what makes him have to be a Card fan or Uk . I don't think he has anyties to either program.

He calls our games. He should be pro UofL not pro UK. No need to trash the program that employees you to call games. THere is no need for that on the radio. I have to agree with the OP. There is enough Yewkay love in this city, go let Bob be Yell Jones' sidekick along with Vanetti. What is going on in this city? It's sickening.

Obviously you didn't listen to entire radio show yesterday or today. I listened to both and he was not defending ESPN or Dochick. He was just stating why Dochick said what he said and was NOT supporting his opinion.
He has always been fair to U of L and I enjoy his reporting.

Since some of us didn't hear the show could you clue is in to what Valvano said?

For the record I think Valvano has at times looked to pile on his so called friend's situation. He is not obligated on his radio show to do that.

My first reaction is to say, friends like these huh Rick? But maybe they are not that close. Still, as others have said, Valvano does call Louisville games. Maybe he ought to just shut up.

Yesterday on his show he talked about Dochik's comments during the Mich St game regarding Pitino being fired. for some reason some U of L fans took it the wrong way and thought Valvano supported this idea. so today he had to rehash it all to straighten everyone out.

For the life of me, I don't get why anyone with any common sense would have inferred that Valvano supported dochik's views.

Yes exactly, he is piling on. He just isn't up front with it and then he allows that Dbag to come on and dog our program like it was nothing.

Could care less who Bob's brother is and what he has done for the game. This guy is bad. Thank God for 93.9.

First of all Valvano admitted to not hearing what Dakich said in the broadcast so I don't see how he can straighten anyone out. Valvano did try to rephrase Dakich's comment in a positive light, but I actually watched the broadcast and heard Dakich's comments so my opinion should be more legitimate.

Dakich crossed the line when he said he would remove Pitino. Dakich has no credibility to make such opinions known to the public especially while he's color commenting a basketball game. Dakich is a former coach, that's it. He's never lead an athletic department and probably never fired anyone in his life. Do I even have to mention who Dakich's coaching mentor was for most of his coaching career? Did Dakich care so much about the institution of higher learning when he worked directly for and supported Bob Knight, a proven abuser of students?

Dan freaking Dakich saying he would remove Pitino....please.....as the great Grim Reaper Roper would say " my $&?! wants to laugh".

Imo Valvano didn't stand up for UL at all. I understand not taking sides when you're a part of the media but Dakich was trashing the university, the president,Jurich and Pitino with no regard. Then he had the nerve to bring up Chris Jones like his false accusations had anything to do with what is currently taking place.

Valvano is a TOOL and a closet UK fan in cardinal clothing. He is a coward also. Why would you bring the guy back to interview him and further stir things up and just sit back while he talks down on our University and athletic program? In the tone he was talking I basically took it as some kind of threat and that he thought we should be happy that he didn't discuss more during the UL/MSU game. Tell Dakich to call 93.9 so the real voices of the program can rip him a new one.

Then he sits on air talking about how he was employed by espn for 17 years and how they had nothing against UL at all and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah..terrible

I heard a lot of Valvano's commentary this afternoon. And he wasn't very critical of Dakich, not that he should have been. In short, BV said that DD was entitled to his opinion and to expressing it. He also said that there was no ESPN conspiracy against U of L.

IMO Valvano has mutliple conflicts-of-interest. He's employed in part by U of L which pulls him in one direction. And he's employed in part by ESPN which, in this case, pulls him in the other.

ESPN is also conflicted on this issue. They were on record with the results of their own "investigation", most of which went against U of L.

Net-net, I view none of these people/entities with much credibility. They're talking their respective books which is no great surprise. Valvano's proven time and again to be an ESPN apologist. And Dakich is simply piling onto the original piece of ESPN "investigative journalism", as flawed as it now looks,

Learn to care less about what others with low credibility say or think...

For those that didn't listen to today's game on ESPN3, Valvano went out of his way to mention the Dakich talk and state he did NOT agree with Dakich's take that Pitino should not still be the coach. He went on to say that he heard and understood UofL fan's frustration that it was not pointed out that the allegations we're just that at this point...allegations. It seemed he had gotten the message from UofL fans, and wanted to express their frustration. He went on to say he regretted that this was now being heard on a much less vocal platform (ESPN3). Bottom line, it seemed he got the message and was trying to make amends. TIFWIW

I appreciated the comments from Valvano. Unfortunately that side will not be told by the national ESPN.

But props to Valvano.

Since he has a national audience, he needs to make these points on his
radio show. Its obvious someone told him what the fans have been saying about
Dickich's comments.

He said during the broadcast that ESPN ONLY discussed the one side and that they never ONCE mentioned that all this stuff are JUST allegations. He said "I know this broadcast will not have near as many people watching, but I want to clarify that all of this stuff is just allegations and nothing has yet to be proven." THAT is what he said. He disagreed with Dakich and his opinion, but said he has every right to his opinion, and he didn't like that in any story related to this that not a single person has said that everything is alleged and people from ESPN have just taken the one side of the story and ran with it as fact.

Steelers and I heard the same thing.

Having a guy like Valvano is what separates us from the likes of UK. I don't want our guys to bash our rivals and only report the good about our team. I want our representatives to be fair and respectable. That's what we have with Paul Rogers and Bob Valvano. They are all class.

Bobby V is just looking out for where his next pasta meal will come from. If ESPN does have an axe to grind, he won't say it.

There are a lot of things Dakich has the right to talk about but won't. These guys know what they can talk about and what they can't. ESPN has given the green light to bash us.

Valvano didn't stand up for the program and this situation has nothing to do with ppl who work for UK broadcasting.
