In Russell Athletic Bowl. Rooting for the ACC but this one doesn't look good. Baylor's offense is great but No Carolina's defense is awful giving up 349 yards rushing in the first half. Good news is that it is only 28-17 at half.

FWIW the most rushing yards by a team in a D1 game was 768 yards by Barry Switzer's last Oklahoma team in 1988 vs Kansas St.

Baylor ended up with 649 yards rushing but it broke the all time team rushing record for a bowl game by over a hundred yards.

Most ever surpassing Tommy Frazier and Nebraska's demolition of Florida in the 1994 Title game.

I tell you what it looked like to me. North Carolina got TIRED. Baylor's tempo is one of the fastest in the country. They snap the ball at warp speed. North Carolina's Defensive Linemen and Linebackers didn't look to be in the kind of shape you need to be in to go against that. They were bending over in between snaps and didn't look to be hustling all out every play. Baylor didn't run anything special. They just did basic Zone Read stuff but North Carolina couldn't stop it the entire night even though they knew it was coming every play. Just bizarre.

You're right they were totally gassed as the game wore on. UNC did a slightly better job slowing the run down in the 3rd quarter when they brought an extra safety up but Baylor still had 300 yards on the ground in the 2nd half. Early in the game it looked like UNC was too worried about getting beat deep in the passing game.

I guess with Baylor you pick your poison and what about that 6'7 410 lb blocking TE/fullback that Baylor has? That guy is athletic as hell and just blows up defenders. As athletic and huge as he is I'm trying to picture where he would fit on an NFL team. I guess you could say Right Tackle but I'm not sure if he has ever played the tackle position in college. It would be interesting to see him used like Baylor uses him.
