McKay needs to get as many starts as possible for the balance of this season. Once the regular weekend series are over, the sooner you pitch, the sooner you will pitch again. That means that McKay needs to be promoted in the rotation to the "ace" position. Funk should pitch 2nd or 3rd behind him.
We could have lost Friday night because this move wasn't already made. Funk pitched about as well on Friday as Compton did today. And I doubt that Coach Mac would have followed Funk with Kidston in a tight game. McKay should have pitched Friday nite in a win for sure, and we could have had another win today--instead of the zero chance we had last nite by the time Kidston was finished.
I'm making no allowance for Funk's state of mind with that change. But who in their right mind would question it? If Funk did, he's not the AA we think he is...
