want to talk basketball?

So what about this team? The Cards got beat by a team playing their best ball of the season.
No shame in that.

I thought defensively, there was too much attention given their post players. We got burned by the 3 quite a bit. I'd prefer to make those inside guys fight for their deuces than those easy treys. Idk,just me.

Offensively, I think the issues go deeper. I started a thread about who would be the guy that takes the point and there was some debate. Obviously, Perry is really struggling. I think if he makes the spot his own,he would excel. In other words, only think pass. He really struggles with the thought of being the guy that makes everybody better with the pass. Just think pass because he's our best passer.

If CC can play off the ball,he becomes much more of a threat,it opens up the whole offense.

Idk,still love this team, their effort and their outlook.

Perry is a Russ Wantabee. He so reminds me of Russ during his Fr & Soph year. I’m not sure whether he learns/listens this year or not. :(

I gotta agree. His role next year might be along those lines. This year he'd help the team more if he fancied those sharp passes that get easy looks, like Russ' buddy Peyton Siva.

I like this team a lot too. I enjoy the effort they have shown for most every minute of every game they've played thus far. I have no complaints. I am a wee bit disappointed in VJ King who appears to have regressed as a player. I know he wants to succeed so I'm not going to rail on him for not playing better. It's just not clicking for him and it looks like it just won't.

Still, looking forward to league play where the schedule is beyond brutal. It will be a lot of fun!!

Go CARDS!!!

And you know Cue,we've gone at this VJ King thing ad nauseam, but you are right. Another guy that thinks it's about his scoring, when in fact it's about how you help the team. Find another role until the confidence is found. For instance, become the best rebounder on the team.

Looking forward to seeing how the team responds to Miami on Sunday. A Miami team that has losses to Rutgers, Yale and Penn. Two of these losses at home. The Cards need to bounce back and get a win.

The team is fairly easy to scout right now. There is more tape for teams to take advantage.

Game Plan - Take away or limit Nwora and whatever we do McMahon is not going to beat us.

We need Perry to properly channel the dog he has in him. He has a ton of potential. Better ball movement and smarter shot selection will help this team on offense tremendously.

I will admit I have been overly hard on VJ mostly out of frustration as the kid is obviously not playing anywhere near his potential. As mentioned, we need guys to find roles. Really hoping he can tap into at least 50 to 60 percent of his potential.

The game on Sunday will tell us a lot about this team. Not saying they have to win... but how they play overall will tell us a lot.

We cannot overreact to a loss to a team that had a guy that did something he has not done all year. Better play on offense and a few stops on D we may be talking about a different outcome. Regardless of what Mack said about the defense initially after the UK game... the help and overall D was not good. I agree with Maybin… it's possible they were so focused on not fouling it impacted their intensity on D.

Mack is still trying to figure out what he has and how to best utilize them. He has done a great job using what tools he has to work with.

Can't play that way.I agree,contest everything.

We all saw how good this kid was last year as a sub. He needs to be on the floor, but maybe just not as a starter.

Better ball movement
I wanna give Ky some credit for some of this, but I thought we became stagnant with the ball movement and it played to their strength.
I'd love to see more cutters. It's not just the lack of ball movement, but body movement as well.

We need better ball movement like earlier in the season, we’ve regressed in that aspect. Not enough extra passes to find an open man, I think we had like 6 or 7 assists in the Kentucky game.. that's just unacceptable.

Yep. We all got spoiled watching Gorgui and PS run the hi pick-n-roll to precision. It's a bit of an art,and takes 2 guys that know how to do it. This team simply lacks great point guard play. It is what it is. Hopefully, help is on the way at that position. We've got a lot of 2's trying to become that.

Still disgusted by the LATEST loss to SuCkS.
The best team won the game. We’ve got to at least come close to matching their talent on the floor if we want to win our fair share of the games. That just hasn’t been the case while Calipari has been there.

I think Mack has gone out and gotten us a quality recruiting class for next year. That may help us win one in a year or two.

Coach Mack wasnt the problem.
The players were still on Christmas vacation mode.

Ive already stated the need in talent upgrades, however less talented teams beat SuCkS every year.

Its ingrained in crapiperi that HE CANNOT LOSE TO UofL.

The SuCkS players play it like an arch-rivalry.

UofL players cant wait for the New years break. Pathetic............

Instead of belly aching all the time, what’s your solution and don’t say recruit 5 star players..

I’m not a crapasleazy guy and I do not think he’s a good coach. But he did have his team ready for UofL last Saturday. Their game plan was really good. We did not look for the open man nor did we make crisp, quick passes. We will be a much better team as the season progresses. That’s my opinion and I’m entitled to that.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

I absolutely think the team uses the last game as motivation to do what needs to be done...if they will dance come March. The journey is real, but it really began for a lot of this team last season.
If you're a little short on talent, you have to become a better TEAM.
