On the same night UL Ladies secure a FF to Minneapolis, Bozich writes “a hit piece“ on UL Men’s BB Program. Obviously Rick slipped out of his IU Cheerleading outfit, just in time to pickup on his “hate UL mantre”. After his previous “love piece” on IU Ladies BB loss, he must have been compelled to distract from UL’s advancing to the FF a after his beloved IU girls failed to advance.

He brought up Duke, UNC and Kansas in his article …… but not a single word about UK, as an example of getting away with NCAA recruiting violations. It is well established that Adidas was following the most successful Nike model for arranging recruits to sign with UK.

There is more than ample evidence that Adidas did in fact engage in a conspiracy to use its own influence in placing recruits at Adidas schools.

He was taught well by his Daddy, Forde.
I spoke to him one day downtown in a restaurant and asked him why he seems tobe so negative towards U of L. he tried to turn the question around and ask me what has he written that wasn't truth. I went on to say not that what you have written has always been a lie but you write hit pieces. He paused and said literally a writers job is to appeal to a broad fan base. And i countered with your saying you need to please the UK fan base he shrugged his shoulders he is a piece of crap!

It's really truly sad the way local media covers U of L and UK .

He sucks. This is a beautiful thread because we probably all agree.
What really sucks the local media hacks know that what and how they cover our teams. Is 90 percent of the main source material the national writers use and how our programs are perceived. Not surprising UK hardly is ever thrown under the bus for anything.

I didn’t read the article and likely won’t. However, would it be safe to say that he would bring up UNC, Duke and Kansas because they are all in the Final 4? The other school you referenced lost in the first round if memory serves me correct.

As I've posted before in another thread, I don't have an issue with what Bozich and Eric Crawford (EC) write; although Bozich totally leans more IU and towards UK. I only ask that they give the same energy and attention when it involves IU and/or UK, but somehow that never happens...And the kicker for me, especially with EC, who I feel is most UofL fair was...A Deener Show question one morning about why the UK FB incident wasn't being covered with the same energy and attention? He had the audacity to say, because of newsroom cuts, they didn't have the staff to give it the full attention. Right then and there, I totally lose a huge amount of respect for his work. Ohhhh but somehow, when UofL has an issue, it's seems to get covered from all angles, via Louisville and KY state media. And even worse, Deener never challenge him on that ridiculous explanation. Sooooo frustrating....

I too remember that Eric interview. Funny you brought that up Maybin on his show referenced it and stated the newsroom has plenty of interns . All stories don't have to be covered by the main guys . The one that gets under my skin was Derrick Willis passed out on the road by his vehicle drunk . That was hardly a blimp

Journalism has always had detractors, but over the last few decades it has become ever-increasingly that folks like Bozich are abusing the privilege of having public forums to spew their own political and/or personal opinions. Bozich has little credibility or respect from his audience, something that he lost a long time ago.

Everyone plays a part in this slide - not just journalists. “News” correctly identified that consumers are predominantly driven towards reading the negative, the sensational, conflict and the lurid - and so, that’s what they give us.

This is further exacerbated by the glut of 24 hour news channels (on tv and online) competing to be first - often resulting in less than thoroughly vetted stories- and, that news departments now expected to make money when they never were previously.

Worst of all is the tailoring of stories and “facts” to suit the audience - for if we’ve learned anything (and sadly we really haven’t) - it’s that people love their echo chambers. “Don’t give me the facts unless they’re the facts that I agree with”.

In all of this din, people like bozich are desperate to stand out - lest they be passed by. I mean he’s become a hack to be sure but, we all played a part in it.

When you couldn’t make the team, or got sand kicked in your face, you turned to “journalism”.

Then, if you don’t get treated as you “think” you “deserve” you have the means to kick sand back if you will.

Koz I don't even think reality will ever set in for him either, every year Bozo has this belief IU is gonna be a front runner but I believe they are Nebraska football until further notice.

Same with Clark Kellog‘s proclamations each year that the B1G is gonna shine in the NCAAT. This year he picked Iowa to reach the final four. How’d that work out?

The level of bias in journalism and the media in general has evolved to the point where the “experts” are becoming objects of ridicule by the public.

They are not elected, nor are they subject to being held accountable for anything they write or say; a protection that is being abused by irresponsible people who feel a false sense of superiority.

Gotta push back a little on this. First off - who isn’t an object of ridicule by the public these days? Ridiculing everything and everybody is one of the only things that all walks of people seem to agree on. Second, being “elected” is no guarantee if even basic competence - a simple look at some of the specimens that are elected time and again proves that.

How would you hold them accountable actually? There’s a huge failure on the public’s part to discern the difference between opinion / entertainment and actual news that drives some of this. Given that, it’s not hard to understand why journalists might feel superior - or at least smarter - because in most cases, they are.

We do not live in anything remotely close to a perfect world, but it does not mean that obvious dishonest reporting can go without recognition and challenge. True, elected officials disappoint equally, but the election process allows the public to rid those who misbehave or in some manner fail the public …….I think the upcoming November election will demonstrate just how effective elections can provide a corrective action.

Accountability is a fair question, and while it has been a slow process ……. the huge decline in newspaper subscriptions and the dramatic decline in the ratings for some of those media outlets have significant consequences. The changes in both personnel and management at CNN is a classic example of the public punishing irresponsible reporting. The CJ does not generate positive revenue for Gannett; not sure their long term future is secure.

And yet, there are multiple examples of politicians that behave not only badly but in many cases bizarrely and are re-elected nevertheless. I think November will demonstrate just how schizophrenic and gullible the American voting public is.

If your invocation of the changes at CNN includes Zucker being forced to resign as the public punishing irresponsible reporting - that’s patently absurd. Cuomo was rightly dismissed but that had more to do with CNN enforcing journalistic ethical standards, than anything the public had to say about it. Hell I’d bet you $1000 vs $1 - 60% of the public couldn’t even tell you what it was about or even, who Chris Cuomo is.

No ghost, it is not confined to any one employee or any one event at CNN, but anyone paying attention to its huge decline in both viewership and ratings can see the network has worked hard in losing any sense of responsible journalism. ETHICAL STANDARDS at CNN? Are you serious; the same CNN that marched one liar after another for 4 years on their station, ones who intentionally perpetuated the now debunked false narrative about Russian collusion? Or the same CNN that refused to report the Hunter Biden Laptop story, despite multiple eyewitness testimony confirming the events and the criminal activity? Sorry Ghost, but CNN is void of any hint of having Ethical Standards.

I heard firsthand both James Clapper and John Brennan make statements on CNN about Russian collusion, only to directly contradict when what both testified under oath in a House Committee hearing. CNN knew this, and yet the network still refused to acknowledge the contradictions were a matter of public record, and allowed the lies to continue.

The CJ? I will give you this Ghost ….their reporting the Obituaries, and the few sports related news/scores, ones where they avoid editorializing are worthy for public consumption, but everything else is nothing more than liberal sinning to meet their own agenda.

Make no mistake Ghost, this goes well beyond politics, it is now about the harsh consequences that Americans are experiencing in virtually every segment of their lives. CNN, right along with social media and most mainstream and cable news networks engaged in the most dishonest form of journalism; not only promoting false news against one candidate, but they used censorship when protecting another candidate. That is unconscionable and it explains how it can affect the outcome of an election and the consequences that follow.

Excellent post 0859. And for the record, I am not a Trump fan.

Just curious - when specifically - during who’s show did you hear those falsehoods from Clapper and Brennan?

I don’t know what he said but pretty sure This is why “ghost” has been on Ignore for the last couple years.

Oh no! You mean you can’t read my posts?? Thanks for explaining the echo chamber and fragile masculinity all in one post.

Seems like a bitch move to block someone but also comment on their posts that you supposedly can’t see.

Good luck with navigating real life!
