another bad NCAA decision

The NCAA hammered them because they decided to keep the coach (should sound familiar), who they know willfully committed level 1 extra benefits violations, but they still kept him because he’s gone 218-26 during the last 19 seasons.

They also won the championship last year, but they won’t lose that one. They kind of got lucky that the car broke down when it did, otherwise they would have had to vacate both championships.

To punish an entire team and vacate there wins and there national championship, just because the head coach allows a player to use his car. WOW the NCAA is pathetic.
Cannot imagine what would have happened to them if their coach knocked up some bimbo in a local restaurant and then paid for her abortion, then had an assistant that paid for strippers to entice potential recruits and then had no idea the shoe company that was paying him millions was also funneling money for recruits through his assistant coaches. Think what would happen if their football coach owned a motorcycle.

There’s got to be a better way to punish? How about punishing the adults that make stupid errors in judgement? Heck Corp CEO that make bad business decisions get fired.

Like Morgantown says...Faarrr the coaches, penalize the coaches by docking their pay by millions. If need be punish the ADs, punish the man at the top, the president.

What a novel idea to punish the adults in charge who facilitated and/or enabled the infractions at the time and not the innocent replacements and players who were not involved when the infraction(s) took place. Amazing!

What a crazy sense of justice the NCAA has in place. Faaarr the NCaa hypocrites. Fine and/or fire individuals who were culpable to the infraction(s). Period...not the innocents who were not even there.

I believe both of you have hit on a great idea. Punish those “in charge” by taking away their money. That would be a real attention “getter”. Or if the violation is serious enough faaaarrrr those sonnybiotches.

Yep. It's very interesting how fans and players get screwed but the coaches just float away to bigger and bigger paydays.

I'd say ban the coaches. Rick shouldn't be able to coach for say 5 years. Az's similar. Bruce Pearl probably banned for life since he's had so many infractions. Self; nope. 5 years at least. Calipari; Done in NCAA sports. THAT will maybe help fix this issue. You can't police boosters or anything like that but if the coaches faced real consequences for these things then MAYBE things would clean up at least a little.

Very good point. There would be a lot less cheating going on, and much more oversight if individuals were held more accountable.

I don’t see the need for the NCAA to destroy programs, which they do in some cases but in other cases they seem to turn a blind eye, e.g. the unc case....talk about morally repugnant.

WTH the NCAA obviously needs a pack of seeing eye dogs to find the crap that goes on down the road in lessington. But talk about turning “a blind eye” . . . . . WOW! How about giving the colleges (the members) the power of the audit of the NCAA and the “members” that hand out, or not, the punishments to the alleged rule breakers. Talk about the fear of God being handed to the people that are supposed to be in charge.

If I were any school that were penalized by those inconsistent pricks I would take them to court. In court I would have attornies make them on record tell the world their exact reasons for giving back Joe Paternos vacated wins over the Penn St. Rape case. They reduced or took back every punishment they dealt to Penn St. If they. Don't see the need to completely crush that program than no one should have to worry. I mean can anyone think of a more horrendous, unimaginable series of crimes to ever have been commuted any where else in the history of the ncaa. They should return Louisvilles title and Patinos wins immediately. If having knowledge of your assistant coach raping and molesting students over the coarse of years isn't a total lack of institutional control than nothing should be. Unbelievable. I swear if I were UL President I would make the ncaa explain how that is ok with them. Hipocracy at its finest. Man Penn St should have been banned for life. If thebig10 had any moralsthey would have kicked them out if their conference.I swear it's like It has already been completely forgotten. We will be seeing and hearing about hookergate for ever meanwhile another football blueblood goes unscathed. Pathetic. Sickening.

I did some research. I don't know how many of you remember the end result of rapegate but I read the ncaa complimented Penn St. On how good they were doing in the few years following the punishment set by them. They saidPenn St was doing a great job since the infractions. Great Job!!!. What!!!!. So they havent been raping anyone lately? What a joke. Thencaa should be exposed for what they are. They are themselves cheaters. They will not throw the book at large money generating programs. See list of current blueblood. That's why school such as Duke, UK, Ohio St, Bama,Kansas always slide. There right I said Kansas. Wait and see. They will receive nothing crippling. Just read that Snoop Dog said they knew exactly what they were getting when they hired him. Louisville imposes a post season band and cooperated to the fullest and we still got hosed. Meanwhile in Lawrence they are basically flipping off the ncaa and daring them to come after them. The outcome is all but predictable. If they had even an ounce of fear of the ncaa they wouldn't be poking the bear. I've been thinking there is no way Kansas generates more $ than UL. So there is more to it than a blueblood tag. Some including me believe UL is. Basketball blueblood also. There is some underlying dislike of UL for whatever reason. What convinced me was when the attorney whistleblower of nike( forget his name ) was deemed an unreliable witness because of his criminal record. But espn puts a prostitute on 30 for30 and allows her to say anything she wanted about UL smearing them into the ground. They had no idea if one word she said was true and neither did they care. Wow. I'm serious those piece of shit crooked ass punks need to be called out. They need to tell the world why they are ok having such an extreme degree of inconsistency within their association and its dealing of penalties.
