Alumni/Donor Support for Tom Jurich

We need to keep hammering the interim President's office about this and make sure we make it clear that we want Tom Jurich back. As part of that I contacted the Office of the President at UofL today and made my feelings and intentions well known. I have no faith in Postel and I believe he has been a horrible interim President for the university. In my opinion he has no place at UofL and needs to go back where he came from with his crazy wife.

If Jurich is fired I will be suspending all support for UofL. That includes athletics donations, academic donations, attending games and buying merchandise. I have talked to about 15 other alumni, most of whom I am good friends with, and I have convinced them to be prepared to do the same. They have all already been in contact with the Office of the President. Individually we might be small fry, but together our donations annually are around $80,000/year. That will be $80,000 the university if Jurich is fired and if Postel is not removed from office. That is just donations and does not even count buying tickets to games and purchasing merchandise, all of which will stop.

If you believe how I believe and want Tom Jurich to remain and UofL Athletics to continue to push forward, we must get Postel out. The number to contact the Office of the President is 502-852-5417. Please make sure your voice is heard by the university.

Postel might not be the only problem but he is a problem. The biggest problem is that he's a pawn for Grissom. We need to get a President in there who is going to be no one's pawn, whether it's Grissom, another member of the BOT or anyone associated with UK or even Kentucky politics.

I completely agree with you, I contacted the BOT office as well but had to leave a voicemail. So far I have gotten no response. I worry that the Governor's office is in on destroying UofL just to benefit UK but I will definitely contact them as well.

They need to understand that if they can Jurich they will hurt the universally financially. Given it's tricky because I'm sure for some of the people that's exactly what they want. But at the end of the day money is what they listen to and as fans and alumni that's really the only power we have (unless you are one of the really big donors). This is completely a power play and even if Jurich does have to go Postel and this BOT should not be the ones naming the replacement AD. The BOT is still a joke and Postel does not have what it take the lead the university through these difficult times.

I must say to how the CJ is still in business I have no clue. I know no one who goes to their website, never mind subscribing to that rag they call a newspaper. Heck half of it is just USA Today articles anyway, might as well just buy the USA Today even though that is a shell of its former self as well.

That is entirely possible. That will be a sad day for the University to think a faction that does not have the best interest of the University pushed him out. It took people like Schellenburger and Jurich to drag UL forward. Up until then we had a BB program. Now we’re competitive in just about everything.

Crawford's article was the best take I've read on this whole situation...positive and negative on Tom Jurich. If you have a chance to check these threads, link on it.

It is possible for Jurich to stay, but it could be in the best interest of all involved if a fair and equitable severance package is offered and accepted.

With all the damage that has been done to all parties reputations, putting on a tourniquet and moving on could work best for all.

I think the ship has sailed. I think it is nearly impossible to repair the relationship between the two groups. The bad information about the Adidas deal saying Jurich did it in the dark. Jurich telling media people he was fired. I don't see a scenario where Jurich and the new BOT could work together to move the University forward. Unfortunately, the BOT put the University in this position by moving way to fast on Jurich. They forced Jurich on the Pitino issue when they could easily taken it out of his hand. They knew there was a good chance Jurich would defend Pitino and that was their way out. Jurich did what he does he stayed loyal to his coach.

Hopefully, all parties will do what is right for the University, not themselves.

He was given the directive by Bevin to clean things up at UofL and he is someone who relishes that task. Unless - as widely rumored - postel told TJ to fire pitino and he didn’t. If that is true - postel should have immediately fired TJ - by not doing so, postel took ownership of the issue as well. That would mean that the same broom that they want to use on TJ, should sweep postel’s weasel ass out as well.

Short answer - no problem with amount he was paid. The bigger issue was that the ULAA had little to no oversight of spending. Basically Jurich and Ramsey wheeling and dealing with no one providing any governance.

Bottom line is our athletic program is in shambles other than non revenue making sports. Those teams are doing well. Basketball will fall back into the dark ages for years, and football looks to be following suit.

You’re a genius. There are rural and suburbs in all of those states. And those state have some of the largest sports programs. Try getting out of KY once in a while. And your buddy SuCk fans don’t count.
