Cards and Hughes have parted ways. He will forever be a badass for signing on the day the sky was falling.

My guess this is step one in scholarship reductions.

Well that sucks. I thought he had great potential. Oh well, life goes on.

I'm just throwing this out a little birdie has told me that Anuaku is not coming back and they are in on a couple of possible immediate big men transfers that could possibly fill his role! And that Rick told Hughes he would have to sit more than he wanted needed some development so it was a mutal split. Thats the thing when they are rated 3 stars escpecially in Ricks system. I personally beleived Anuaku he was gone.

An honest question....are you thinking this may be part 2 of self discipline by UL.

I think so. Just speculating that they don't won't to tie a scholly up on a guy who is a bit of a project, especially since Ryan McMahon already has that kind of role.

I think they will get another grad transfer next year and then the scholly will disappear the next year.

If that dude from Canada for UK can go 1st round, then Nanu is definitely going early. He should go if he is a 1st round pick.

He's likely going in the top 5. I think Nanu will be a good pro but another year could take him up 10-15 spots in the draft, which is a lot of money. I don't know his family's $$ situation so it may be something he wants/needs to do now, and there is no shame in that.

This is about Hughes, not the latest overrated SuCkS player.

Frankie wanted more PT his freshman year.

Good luck to him.

I will be shocked if Onuaku is drafted in the first round. The NBA game is changing to small ball. He still isn't good enough defensively to guard or rebound at the level. If his improvement in his Junior is anything like what we saw in his sophomore year then he will be a first rounder easy.

The lastest Mock draft I seen doesn't have Nanu even being drafted. Most view this is a week draft as the majority of the big time 1 and done players underperformed. So many are looking to jump this year.

I don't see how he's not just outside of the lottery this year. Big and strong with a nice touch and also a very good rebounder. Unless there's some some talented big Euro's, I'm not seeing many better bigs. Plus a very weak draft

No matter how you look at it the NBA draft on pure potential. It's the same reason Gourgi fell in the draft. He just now starting to get consistant playing time for the Wolves and he's putting up good stats. Yet, because of his age 27/28.

We all thought Harrell was such a beast and he's barely getting playing time. I know it's about the money and maybe Onuaku has more "po" but I think he would benefit with another year of college.

Always sad to see guys back out on their commitments. Good luck to him but if he can't stay true to his commitments I don't want him anyways.

This was "mutual" Tide. For all we know, the coaching staff could have initiated it. Better now than august or October.

Thanks for clearing that up. I just hate when a player blindsides an institution like that. Hope this was at the impetus of the coaching staff.

I have said all year that Onuaku needs to work on his defense he has no lateral movement, Stockman and Mahmoud are better defensive players than he is. I can see him going early and then end up in the Euro League making 150,000.00 a year, I don't see him in the NBA long they don't spend a lot of time developing players. If your not ready when you get there someone will replace you in a few months.

I don't hope it was the staff. This is a guy who signed with us when all the c--p broke with Powell. I hate to think our staff ran someone like that off. I hope he got a great opportunity at another school because he had a great SR. season, and initiated the release.
