ACCT vs. CLEMSON , Russell & Curry-Out

Guard the 3 point shooter go ahead and shadow her. It would almost be better to foul them once they cross mid court.

There was not 1.3 seconds left and the clock was slow to start when Louisville inbounded the ball. Lucky to escape here the bonus is a lot of playing time for the freshmen in crunch situations.

Curry was out early in the year. Berry started and,did well, especially defense. Should have used Randolph, Arenas, Berry more as season played out. Now, they look confused on defense. Duke had been on a roll late.

The freshmen contributed, and Williams really stepped up. On the first Cochran shot, she was bumped while shooting under the basket (may have been one of the few times that I can remember her actually jumping); there was no foul called and I could not help but wonder during the rest of the game if that missed call had anything to do with her atrocious 5-14 performance?

Winning without Curry and Russell, and getting nothing to speak of from either Harris or Cochran is a testament to UL WBB Program; those kids would not quit when down by 7 points late.

I am sure CJW appreciates that his decision (assuming he instructed the girls not to foul on that last defensive possession in regulation) not to foul and give up a 3 to tie was a mistake.

Arenas, Randolph, Berry and Roberts each make some mistakes, but they deserve a lot of credit for their efforts and their attitude; overall I think their combined efforts is why we were fortunate to prevail last night.

I have questioned the PG position for next year and the more I think about it…I think Taj or Berry could fill that role. They don’t necessarily need a ‘true’ PG and as long as they have 2-3 trusted ball handlers then that would work. I really hope to see a portal add - power forward-type who loves to rebound and play defense. Along with another 6’1-6’4” player who can shoot and drive to the rim when needed. I know those are big wants, but we can all dream.

I'm looking forward to next season and beyond. With the departure of the seniors, the young talent remaining on this team can fully take charge. They will need of course some help from the portal to get the program back to being a final 4 threat.

The Cochran, Russell, Harris and Curry era will finally be over. I know Curry is a transfer, but she like the other three has only had flashes of good play in their Cardinals career. They just haven't been reliable.

Coach Walz has to get a mix of transfers and recruits who have above average hoops IQ and a desire to win. Those two attributes have been missing for a few years.

I will be a bit disappointed if there isn't a big turnover on the roster. I would like Randolph, Berry, Roberts and Arenas all to come back and that's about it. Walz needs to land at least four transfers along with some freshmen to complete the roster.

I would think there has to be many players in the portal who would love to play for Louisville. I guess it comes down to NIL money?

Our defense was bad and our offense was horrible, but that may have been our most impressive win this year. We were without our point guard leader (she has gown into that this year) and a valuable experienced sub, so we won with toughness and big contributions from our talented freshman. (Williams deserves shout-out too with her double double.)

I want to continue to roll with more Randolph, Arenas and Berry. Randolph especially gives us a much needed infusion of athleticism and she may have the best low post moves on the team.
