ACC/SEC CHALLENGE: LOUISVILLE VS OLE MISS GAME THREAD

Not looking so good. I'm afraid we're just not capable of getting where we want this season. We started four guards in this game.

The loss of Pryor was the worst thing that could of happened, except Chucky if he was injured.

I can't believe the odds makers had the Cards favored. They didn't learn their lesson.

Wide open looks can’t hit. When your offensive system is built around the 3 and you shoot 28 percent good luck.

Hard to believe less than a week ago we were running Indiana out of the building. Everything changed when Pryor went down. Any momentum we had was taken away in just two days.

Tonight, it's evident that this group now will most likely only beat mediocre teams and won't have much of a chance against very good teams.

Now we have two tall and athletic players in Scott and Rooths, but neither are offensive weapons. Kelsey has to figure out how to get them in position to score inside. Rooths shooting the 3 is not good.

The reason Smith is taking and missing so many 3's tonight is he knows there's not many other offensive options and his team is losing. He shoots much better when he's not in desperation mode.

Any opponent who puts defensive pressure on the Cards is going to be successful.

Johnson-Pryor being out is just a killer.

It forces Edwards into ball handling and guarding small guards neither is ideal. Pryor was so good on ball screens and no one else comes close.

They play extremely hard but they are out matched.

Definitely disappointed in Edwards and Hadley so far. Edwards just doesn't appear to be able to score consistently at this level.

Totally. They're just so damn limited with three players out. Kelsey has a decision to make. To continue with the green light on 3 point shooting, or slowing down the offense and using their hustle and hard nosed defense to win games in the 60's.

When the best 3 point shooter is a guy who misses a lot of bad attempts, I think he should make the adjustment from how he usually runs his offense.

Kelsy's insistence to play man to man without trying to mix it up somewhat leaves for too many match-up problems. If they're not shooting a much better percentage,it's an uphill battle all night because we can't stop these guys blowing by.

Hard to imagine them winning more than 12-14 games. Against the really good teams especially with good guards they will get torched.

Really troubling loss. All the good will from Bahamas was erased. Getting blown out twice at home is quite deflating. Chris Beard coached circles around Kelsey.

The honeymoon is over but losing impact players at this level matters. I am not sure how they piece this back together. The injuries have turn a good roster into a bad roster. The parts no longer fit. He will be a coaching genius if he pieces this back together.

They will have to complete change to a half court team. They can’t play fast with this roster. They are going to have to screen and create mismatches with Hadley and Edwards. They just have to muddy up the game.

What's troubling? The fact that we have only 8 scholarship players? Is it really surprising that this team now isn't as good as they were in the Bahamas?

What exactly could Kelsey do when facing a successful coach like Beard. How could he outcouch him?

It is what it is. Louisville would have needed a miracle to beat Ole Miss.

It was troubling because it looks like the injuries are definitely gonna derail the season. Kelsey had no answer to the ball pressure that Ole Miss applies. Same thing happened against Tennessee.

He has no answer because there is no answer when you have just one guard with any handle. Losing Johnson may end up being just as bad as losing Pryor. We only saw three games with Johnson to know exactly how much we're missing.

Facts are facts and this team is overmatched against very good teams because of a lack of personal. It was going to be a challenging season without the injuries, but with them it's all but impossible to get where we all want to be.

I have accepted this fate. It is what it is. For me, the frustrating part is why this program is so snake bit? Why are we so unlucky? How many times has a team lost three major players to serious injuries just seven games into the season?

Everything you wrote seems troubling. Seems like we are in agreement.

Doesn't appear you are in full agreement.

You're putting some of this on the HC and the overall performance last night, whereas TRV is pointing out the issue is simply the injuries, and the Pryor ACL sealed it and last night was inevitable.

You wanted to hold onto the IU/WVU and I don't blame you, it felt good. But while those games showed what it could have been, the loss of Pryor made those results irrelevant for the rest of this season. We're screwed.

IMO, TRV is correct. He reached the acceptance part of the process a little quicker than you did, and he's correct about the why too.

I suppose so. I was hoping that Kelsey could come up with something to mitigate the losses of Pryor. We didn’t have Johnson in the Bahamas so I knew we could compete without him.

Yes, we were getting by without Johnson mostly due to the exemplary play from Hepburn. It eventually would have cost us when Hepburn got into foul trouble for example.

But there's no one who can pick up the slack from Pryor going down. I was hoping Rooths could try, but that's a pipe dream. The freshman doesn't have four years of improving at the college level. It's still unclear what Rooths is best at.

Scott I think is the only real option, but he's a zero threat on the perimeter. He's a good passer, but without the outside shooting threat, he's easier to defend.

We still don't know how good Traore is or if he can make a difference when he's back. He's played 37 minutes in two games, scoring 3 points. He may even decide to redshirt to get a do over for his last season of college basketball. Probably wouldn't come back.

Pryor's skillset is just too unique to replace, especially given being down 2 additional key guys.

This is mission impossible. I think the sooner our fans come to grips with it the softer the fall.

But JMO.

CPK still has to figure out how to somehow keep the fans coming out and filling some seats. I don't know if he can other than a huge win here and there.
Hate to say it,but our fans can't abandon these players and this coach like last season. Totally different set of circumstances this time around.

Idk,it sucks 😕
