The ACC Indoor Championship continues today so here's a thread for the events if anyone is interested. It's a 3 day event hosted in Louisville, so I'd encourage anyone to head over Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center if they get a chance. The events should also be live on the ACC network if anyone decides to take 10 minutes out of their day to watch one of the races. Thursday and Friday are mostly prelims, so it will be hard to have an idea of who will win until Saturday when the finals start. I posted some info below about the Friday events and where we stand currently. I just have Friday right now so this post wouldn't be too long

The final day of the ACC Championship has Louisville entering in the lead for the Men’s Side and in 5th on the women’s side. It’s hard to put much stock into these scores however since over half the events benign scored take place today. Both the Men and the women are going to have to rely heavily on their sprinters and field athletes for points today. Most of the events that had prelims in the previous days only have 8 athletes, which means if an athlete is in one of those events, they are guaranteed to score at least 1 point, unlike the previous events where qualifying was the most important thing, now should be the time to lay it all out on the floor and go for first.

The men still absolutely have a chance to win, but it will require them to score big in the events that are left. I’m not behind the scenes for this team, but it’s hard not to question why they didn’t at least try to get athletes qualified in the 400 or 60m hurdles, not having athletes in 5 of the events today puts a lot of pressure on the remaining athletes to overperform. Every point counts and every single event today that the Cardinals compete in will have a huge impact on their chances of winning, it will require everyone competing today to score big.

The Women also have a chance to score big today. There in a position to take the top 3 in this championship, which would be huge considering what the early season expectations amongst some were. Similar to the Men they will need to rely on field athletes and sprinters to score big today. They are in a great place to score in the 200, and they have athletes in other events such as shotput, triple jump, and the 4x4, where Louisville could surprise and put influential points on the board.

This is the most important day of the championship, and Louisville has a chance to make some noise on both the women’s and Men’s sides. Consider going down to Norton’s Healthcare Sports and Learning Center to check out some of the races. It will also be streamed on ACCNX.
Go Cards, and let’s try to win an ACC championship.
