I feel strongly that one of the reasons Tom Jurich is gone is because of the success that Tom achieved raising money for athletics. This was a source of tremendous consternation for many 'academics' and faculty at the university. Last week I watched a presentation by Dr. Bolli who is an international leader in adult stem cell research. He works very hard and has received two grants for his work. I fear that many of our faculty are unwilling or not creative enough to put in the work necessary for research grants.
