These young players these days have issues and do not want to be held accountable for their actions and when you have a coach that doesn't care a program is destroyed and littered with bad attitudes which leads to a losing program. A new coach has to clean up the mess from previous regimes and it takes time to weed these kids out and fans are so impatient with this process!

An hour after the Gators’ loss to Kentucky.
According to the Tampa Bay Times however, his decision was already made before Florida’s historic loss in Week 2.
“It wasn’t really because of the game,” Lemons said on Tuesday afternoon. “It was the cherry on top you could say.”
Lemons didn’t play in the season opener against Charleston Southern due to a suspension for marijuana.
“(Jim McElwain) was letting a lot of players get away with a lot of stuff,” Lemons said. “Mullen came in. He was really strict with the rules.”
Mullen told Lemons he had to go to a rehab program or lose his spot on the team, so Lemons went to a recovery center for the summer. After complying with Mullen’s demands, Lemons felt as though he had earned back his touches in the Florida offense.

The Clearwater, Florida, native only played on special teams against the Wildcats however. He returned two kicks for 47 yards.

Lemons said that his frustrations boiled over after the Kentucky game, and he was asked to leave the locker room. Shortly after, he tweeted that he would be leaving the Florida program.

On Tuesday, Lemons announced that he would be staying in the SEC after transferring.

I don’t see this as a reason to keep coaches around longer. There are 85 kids on a team. You can’t cater to all of them although each of them think they deserve special treatment, especially if they were the star of their HS football team. By the time you get to college you find out there are 84 other high school stars on the team.

Funny, if a kid comes in as a perceived bad apple and you give him a 2nd chance, you better believe he’s on a short leash. In your example, the kid was suspended for marijuana. He should have no expectations of playing in the next game. That’s on the player not the coach.

This is about the new coach Dan Mullen attempting to hold the kid accountable. The kid stated the last coach let them get away with murder Whom recruited him. Now when a new coach arrives he had rules and wanted them followed and this kid expected to do as he wanted so he leaves. gators FB program right now is littered with those bad apples and Mullens has to clean house and attempt to get whats left to buy in.

That’s on every coach, not just Mullens. It’s why these coaches make so much money. I’m sure a lot of coaches, maybe Tom Herman think they’re walking into a gold mine but you still have to earn your keep.
