I have watched the highlights of the game several times. Two things stood out to me.
1) Both QBs struggled with their passes. Over/under thrown etc.
2) our tackling was 100% better sharper and sustained
Oh, and one additional thing is I think our guys were careful not to get any needless unsportsmanlike penalties (late hits etc)

I haven't rewatched the game and not sure I will. But it seemed like we were not tackling their RB as well in the 4th quarter. Guy's probably a five star, and no doubt fatigue was setting in.

And I can't fault Shough much for missing some passes against their defense. He was throwing into some pretty tight windows and against the best athletes on our schedule.

My key takeaway from this game offensively is that we didn't take a lot of unnecessary chances and beat ourselves. We took the FG on many drives and slowly built that 4th quarter lead. That gave the defense a good reason to stiffen up and play the best it could.

No one was perfect--except maybe Isaac Brown--and you don't expect that playing a superior team...

While I understand CJB’s decision to “milk the clock”; it wore our defense down to a point of exhaustion. Those 3 and outs gave some life to a Clemson offense that we dominated for virtually 3/4 of the game.

They weren’t superior- not this year.

We were the better team. I think if we play them 10 times we beat them 7 or 8 times.

I believe the defensive performance that we witnessed against Clemson was at least in part a result of playing a pocket QB, as compared to the far more athletic dual threat QBs that we saw at GT, at ND, at Miami and at home against SMU.

I don’t believe the majority of UL fans (myself included) had any idea as to just how good those opposing QBs would be when the season started. Leonard, Jennings and Ward may very well be among the best in college football this season.

Sure, if we play like that every night out.

That’s been one game in nine in case anyone has amnesia…
Different years, different teams. Clemson this year is fools gold. The weak schedule outside UGA inflated their record and stats, much like ours were last year. That’s the problem with these huge conferences- everybody doesn’t play everybody.

Sure they didn’t play well. That’s what mediocre teams do. You have to admit this was set up perfectly for them- night game, at home, coming off a bye.

Is it really so hard to say even one positive thing about the Cards. It’s not like something good happening invalidates everything Jurich did years ago.

Are you trying to change the subject?

I'm damn glad Brohm is here. If this department has any chance of turning its finances around, it will be due to his presence. (His management team ain't helping him.)

And as a guy who wants to see coaches like McDonnell, Walz and DBK get the financial support they want and deserve, it's vital that the football program is successful on the field and depositing checks. I don't need to be a fanboy to recognize that.

Let's see if this football team can come close to replicating the Clemson performance the last three games. A lot is riding on it...
