I know there have been vague things said about Tom Herman and future college coaching jobs .... and that may be true. But I went looking for reasons why this would be and couldn't find anything. In fact, it appears to me that he may be ripe for the taking for someone this off season.

Here's a timeline:

-- Fired by Texas after 2020 season

-- From Dec 1, 2021 article
.... key takeaway ...

He told me that he’s happy in the NFL and that his preference is to remain in that league.

-- From August 23 2022 article .... key takeaway ...

He loved the NFL so much 9 months later he's taking a gig at CBS, calling college games.

-- From Sept 19, 2022 ....

Tom Herman, Matt Rhule Listed as Candidates for Arizona State: CBS Sports

I can't find anything on Herman taking his name out of consideration, or discounting the report as pure folly ....

So ....
.... He went to NFL for a season.
.... He's currently at CBS calling college games.
.... He's being mentioned for openings at other P5 schools.

If we have an opening, and he is available, we would be STUPID not to reach out to him.

Tom Herman's record is impressive. And at age 47, he still has TONS to give college football.
