Snider and Mitchell pretty much confirmed what many fans thought was the main reason why our teams usually played so tight and timid against the Cats. It is very telling and I hope Pitino remembers this and keeps this same approach in the future because you could see it in the way the team played this time.

"He was very calm this week and it was very surprising," UofL guard Snider said of his coach. "Cause usually he gets real intense with these big games. He was very calm. It was like weird to us."

Louisville players noticed Pitino's different demeanor in advance of Wednesday's game. Sophomore guard Mitchell said he and his teammates "basically fed off" the vibe of their coach; that his composure contributed to their lack of nerves. And though such things can be hard to quantify, their poise compared favorably to a Kentucky team with more top-end talent.

That's good to read. I don't think it hurts that we have as much talent as them right now too IMO. Maybe not NBA talent but kids that were highly ranked coming out of high school. If we don't have multiple transfers,and Pitino and staff evaluate talent like they have the last 2-3 years, this game is going to start evening out. I really believe that.

This is really good to read. You could tell that they were very loose for this game. I think the early season out of conference schedule has helped them as well.

Couple that with the "refuse to lose" mentality of our guys and the potency exponentiates.

Makes you wonder if Pitino "knew" he had them with that high ball screen? I'm sure he had plans B, C and D in case the high ball screen didn't work, but turns out he didn't need them.

I think he saw a bad defensive team on film and felt really good about his plan to exploit it, mixed with the fact that it was those freshmens first road game and they hadn't seen a defense like UofL's yet. (and probably won't again since they only have SEC games left)

No, he watched film of this years version of Kentucky and knew that defense wasn't the priority of this years one and done's.
