Thoughts?

Men’s college basketball will have a longer three-point line when the 2019-20 season begins.

  • Making the lane more available for dribble/drive plays from the perimeter.
  • Slowing the trend of the 3-point shot becoming too prevalent in men’s college basketball by making the shot a bit more challenging, while at the same time keeping the shot an integral part of the game.

  • Assisting in offensive spacing by requiring the defense to cover more of the court.
In addition to the three-point line move, teams that get an offensive rebound off a ball that hits the rim will have the shot clock reset to 20 seconds instead of the standard 30 seconds.

I like it.

I like it a lot, the 20 sec rule will speed up the game and add excitement to end game situations by negating the impact of offensive rebounds and holding onto the ball as well as de-incentivising offensive resets during regular play. We have good deep shooters and can put Williams or Enoch (consistent 3 ball threats) at the baseline corner (that line doesn't change) and create space for outside pick and pop's/roll's...I mean, it won't be night and day differences or anything, but I think the changes will be to our advantage over most teams we will face.

I like the shot clock reset rule also - I think it's good to see some rule changes looking forward to seeing the impact.

I like it too. Better late than never. This should have been done 10 years ago.
