FB RECRUITING: 2026 Joel Ervin Update: Decommits

Disappointing to see that he’s likely going elsewhere, but that’s always the problem with verbal commitments. I don’t get too fired up about it - either the commitment or the decommitment.

And it’s definitely true that these players often use a committable offer as leverage against other schools to get their crap together and make an offer or they will “miss the boat”.

A “draft” would be good.

Tell em “you’ll play in Morgantown WV…..

or go to WKU, South Alabama etc…and play for room and board”

Wanna get paid? Go where you’re told

I don’t get excited until I see them strap up and run on the field.

Then I wonder if they’ll play in the bowl…..🙄
I'm with ya man. I read the commitment and its fine and all, but anymore until they make it to summer practice, I dont get excited. Cant even get happy heading into spring, bc they will transfer out in May!

I am truly surprised that some Basketball players haven’t “opted out” of the NCAA if they’re on a low seed with little chance.

I would have to think that’s coming.

Hell knowing what I know now, Louisville shouldve opted out of the ACC tourney. What would they have done make us a 9 or a 10?? Give me fresh legs over a seed line when you're talking 8-10! Hell Creighton was much harder matchup than any of the other possibilities!

Basketball is just different in that respect. All bowl games except for the playoffs are meaningless, while every game in the NCAAT is meaningful. Basketball is a “non-contact” sport, so anyone opting out of an NCAAT game is going to result in very intense criticism.

Not saying it won’t eventually happen, but it would have to be a situation like Cooper Flagg coming off of that ankle injury he suffered in the ACCT and playing on an 11-seeded team in the first four. The problem with that scenario which makes it so unlikely is that the consensus number one overall draft pick is very seldom on a team that bad.
