2025 5* Alijah Arenas

Why these kids continue to look at UK just boggles the mind. They're no longer a NBA minor league program and when they were, they won just one championship.

I thought it would be Arizona but out west makes sense. It really depends on the kid if he wants to play immediately he has to find a fit. Not sure he would have started at UK or Louisville.

simply, uk is the blue blood, they changed their entire roster and they are in the top 10, they play on tv more than any team except duke and the majority of nba players come form uk. $$$ is your answer. the question is why does any kid go anywhere else if your dream is to be in the nba? you get more tv and exposure as a uk player than any other school. exposure, money, and beautiful ky country girls. why is this even a question?

Fredo!!

Uk has 27 players in the NBA, duke 25, no other school has 20. If you want to play in the nba, that's the best path plain and simple and don;t know why anyone says uk is not a stepping stone to the nba. they 100% are. and quite a few of pope's players are going to get drafted because they now play at uk. you get seen and you only need potential to get drafted. that's the beauty of uk, they get so much talent no one gets a ton of minutes so their flaws are not seen. they've still got potential. come to louisville adn oyu play all game adn the nba knows exactly who you are. btw, louisville has just donovan i believe and the now under investigation for possible game fixing terry rozier in the nba. so would you chose, uk or u of l, if you wanted to get to the nba? again, why was this is a question fo why would nayone choose uk? money, exposure, the nba and beautiful girls. and lastly, uk has the largest most travelling group of fans in the country and no matter where you go there is always someone in a uk hat or shirt. i've been to 47 states and seen one in every state basically. that's exposure, that's a fanbase who'll support their alumni forever. you ever watch big blue madness, all their alumni try to show up. do ours? do we embrace our alumni? did RP ever bring in old players to hang around, nope? again, uk is big brother, it's reality and they've been that way for 50 years. do we have drake showing up? or other famous athletes to our campus? nope. but uk does.

Sorry,couldn't resist

It depends on the offensive system. Not sure Pope system screams elite talent friendly. It is a system it doesn’t lean heavily on individuals it is really all 5 doing the right things. Kelsey’s is similar. It will be interesting to watch. Brown appears to be an incredible talent but he is also ball dominant. Always wanted to see this kind of offense with elite guys that got it. UConn wasn’t loaded with NBA talent but they ran his system to perfection.

Duke doesn’t run good offense they just beat you with individual talent. We all said the same about Cal. They just let guys beat you with their skill. Elite guys like that kind of system.

I suspect that what I am about to say may be perceived as “just trying to rationalize the fact that UK is more attractive to recruits in college BB than UL”. Actually, I prefer what CPK and UL are doing, more than what I see Pope and UK doing. With respect to Glassman’s comments; his statistics are accurate and explains perfectly as to why UK continues to attract the 5 Star kids that frankly we seldom get more than infrequent consideration.

This first year under both Kelsey and Pope will be interesting to see which coach retains the most kids on the current roster, and which coach has the most NCAA Tournament success over the next 5 years or so.

Admittedly, Pope is a breath of fresh air when compared to Calipari in a number of categories, the least of which is his ability to actually coach; yet I would not trade Kelsey for Pope or any other coach in America right now. I love this UL roster and appreciate how Pat has overcome significant injuries, and still has been able to get this team to play so well together over such a short period of the season.

I still think the veteran teams with the right mix of freshman is the formula. A heavily lean on freshman in March is going to be problematic. I don’t like Duke’s chances in March.

UK will always recruit at a high level. It will be interesting to watch 5 stars operate in his system. It could be a nightmare for everyone else. His system is really good. I think both coaches will retain players. They are good coaches with good personalities.

My guess is Kelsey is probably going to retain big parts of his rosters. I think his teams will be veterans that have been in his system for 2-3 years. That could be equally as scary.
