Some heavy #'s, Could have been due to coaching changes....plus NIL....and Portal transfer rule changes. Cards not alone in this to new way of recruiting. Adapt to keep up or get left behind.

I have read on this site that some think this is not sustainable nor preferred. I have some additional data that sheds some light on why this is the trendy new model of the here and now as high T's Out is impacting the need to balance the roster with more T's in.

These are abundant examples that this model is being heavily utilized and will likely become the norm from here on out. Of the 16 there are: 6 SEC, 4 ACC, 4 B12, and 2 BiG teams working this new model.

CJB is a way better coach than Neon Deon...but lets see what happens this year. Will Neon shine and will the Cards match or exceed last years record???? I would not bet against either one of them this year. Would you?

Time will tell if this is the new normal or not. Will be fun to watch this ride this year. As usual the proof is in the pudding and the cream rises to he top.

In BOLD are the ones in 2023 that were heavy portal users

Louisville, Ole Miss, SMU, & FSU were teams that had big successes in the portal. SMU was AAC, so hard to judge. Louisville, Ole Miss, and FSU all added in the right spots but had a good base of returning guys to build around.

ASU & Cincy were bad but going through a coaching change where they were rebuilding a lot.

Arkansas & Cal were just not good.

All of these teams went heavy in the portal again, we can see what formula works. FSU & Ole Miss do have recruiting advantages and are bringing in some high rated talent and having the portal supplement that talent. We're truly going all in on portal talent, but it's a lot proven players and we're returning a good bit on defense too. IT's going to be an interesting year and then 2025 you'll see the COVID year kids end and there will be less talent overall in the game and harder to build in the portal.

That remains to be seen as the rule situation is fluid. It may remain the same or even be easier to do so....if the transfer rule is addressed than who knows?
