2020 Class

I believe there was also a few guys from KY that went in the transfer portal last week also. Anybody know if these guys are CSS type?

Got to pay coach Satterfield or someone with deep pockets will scoop in and try to hire him away. You listening Vince?

UofL’s previous staff did recruit the defensive back (Stanley Garner). He was a 4-star recruit in 2018 and was expected to see a lot of playing time in UK’s young secondary this year, but he didn’t make much of an impact.

No idea whether our coaching staff would be interested. He did play in all of UK’s first 6 games, so he would not be eligible to play until the 2021 season if he transferred here.

The other player who recently left UK’s team (Shawnkel-Knight Goff) was a 6-3, 210# DE from Louisville Doss HS (2019 signing class), but it is my understanding that he is not in the transfer portal. It has been reported that he is giving up football.

We're basically bringing in close to the kind of class Petrino brought in the 2 years before his last. Imagine what this staff will do in 3-4 years when they're able to recruit kids much earlier. It's very exciting!

Dayyyyuuuuummmmm!!!!!!

With the flip of Watkins, our class is currently ranked 28th.
That is the one of the highest we have ever had and it's only Satt's first class.

Maybe you haven't seen rankings before and you are seeing this for the first time but that will drop a lot.
They will be 35-45 range.
We have 2 fours and a bunch of threes.
Lots if schools have yet to finish their classes and will pick up lots of four star guys and Louisville will drop a lot.

We have a lot of commits and many schools classes are incomplete, that is the only reason we are this high.

We have been 16-17 before but always end up 35-45 when it is all done.

UofL would have to get 5-8 four stars and a bunch of top 300 guys to stay in the top 20 recruiting range.

This is a pretty typical class. Krapthorpe...or Petrino quitting were the only times classes weren't like this.

Yeah, if it holds it will be one of the highest but you are correct, we may lose some but then again we may gain some. Either way its pretty impressive as of right now. What happens in Feb remains to be seen.

I disagree on just this one point: we have 4 more spots and 3-4 could be high 3 even 4 stars. Dumervil would take us way higher even though I doubt he comes here since he cancelled his visit.

Also could sign some guys that would count towards the 2019 class.

Coach Satterfield is amazing.
Ive already forgotten about his predecessor, the jack ass thief.

If we can keep winning, a 9-3 record will turn some heads nationally. We might even be ranked at that point. We do have interest from a lot of undecided 4 and high 3 star players, all of which would add to our rivals points. We stand a good chance of ending up in the low 30’s.

I’d love to see us get Dumervil, Kinsler, Oxendine, and a defensive back (maybe Jamie Vance).

My guess is that the few scholarships that are remaining for this signing period are being reserved for some top recruits that we may not hear about until signing date. After the early date, any open scholarships could be used for available transfers. If this staff could make the improvement that Yeast has shown, they could do wonders with Garner. It appears that Shawnkel-Knight Goff has had a difficult time with his introduction to college football and a little time might make his reconsider and transfer..

I think our recruiting will keep getting better the longer coach Satterfield is here. Guys live playing for him , guys love coaching with him. Stuff like that gets around and the on field results speak for themselves. If Petrino can land top 30 classes being the Asshole he is Satt is gonna kill it.
Plus he is smart enough to know you have to keep homegrown talent home. Seems like the last few years there have been 3 or 4 4* recruits leave the city and surrounding area. That's huge. We finally have the coach UofL and its fans deserves.

If this class includes Boykin, I don’t think we’ll drop very much. I’m pretty pleased with the way this staff is rebuilding the roster, though it will take another 2-3 years of “strong” recruiting to be back where Charlie had us.

Don't look now but Jo"Quavius Marks, 4 star running back is visiting for the Syracuse game! Would be huge get. Yes, he did an official to UF last weekend but reportedly didn't learn much. And yes, he's a current commit to Miss State but has a lot of Carver HS connections here! My point is every guy we are still after, if they commit, will be ranked higher than the current highest ranked commit at their position starting with Griffis, Marks, Vance, Shrader. We'll go into Top 25 with them.

Boykin, if he enrolls will count towards the class of 2019.

This class is important because it will fill our roster up. We did not bring in a lot last class and Bobby left us naked in some key positions.

This may not be his best talent wise, but it will be the class we need to start to rebuild. Need to build a wall for our Quarterback and maybe put some resistance up on defense.

I think with the right coaches the offensive side of the ball is the easiest to recruit too. I have very little concern with that side of the ball. They are addressing the OLine. The big boys are starting to come after some of them.

I think defense is the real challenge. It has been the Achilles heal for Louisville over the years. Building a defense that can hold up against really good offenses is really tough. It requires depth and coaching continuity which they haven’t had either in 5 years.

On defense they like the smaller quicker fronts. I am just not sure that philosophy will hold up in the ACC. We will see but recruiting wise I am much more tuned to the defensive side.
