After seeing the staff we’ve assembled and understanding the disciplined style of football Coach Satterfield will bring to our team, I’m feeling good about next season. We have 4 very winnable home/neutral site games with EKU, WKU, UVA, and BC with Syracuse being in a more difficult tier and Clemson and ND being certain losses. If a few games go our way I could see us winning 8 games next year if the problem was solely coaching like some are speculating.
Some road games we may snag are the following
@UK
@wake
@FSU
@Miami
Many of these teams are trending down based on their win totals and lack of coaching change. UK is losing almost all of their impact players, so they are a big unknown. These with the 4 home/neutral games are probably the only winnable games with the exception of maybe NCSU who is losing Findley and we hung with before totally giving up in the 2nd half.
Best case scenario I see an 8 win season, but I think we’ll probably end up at 5 or 6. I have faith in the coaching ability of Satterfield and staff. The only question now is personnel. Wasn’t really a huge fan of turning away nearly all of the class we had, but I’m sure he evaluated personalities and they didn’t fit. Plus they didn’t commit to P5 programs after. Recruiting will be better now that the staff is there, but I’m not confident there are players left this year. And we may only have Tee Martin 1 year. Satterfield will consistently attract good coaches here though which is a refreshing change. Overall I’m excited about the program. Looking forward to big time seasons after a couple years.
