I have followed college hoops for 40 years and college football for about 35 and I can't recall one University have it's two major programs suffer almost a identical complete collapse.

2018 - Just a year removed from a top 5 ranking in November and Heisman trophy winner in December, the Louisville Cardinals football team went 2 and 10 and was considered the 2nd worst team in FBS football. (Thanks UMass)

Head coach Bobby Petrino quit while still coaching and it was so bad he was fired before the season was over. It's still a mystery to many what happened in 2018.

2021/22 - Just two seasons from a Louisville basketball team that was ranked #1 in the country and was a potential 3 or 2 seed in the NCAA tournament, the program has fallen off the earth and its coach mutually agreed with the University to leave before the season was over. And with still several games to go, the hoops team may end the season on a 13 game losing streak.

The similarities are remarkable. We all know the problems with the athletic department and the Presidency but still it's unbelievable that both of these programs crashed and burned so close together in time.

The football team responded well at first but the last two years it has regressed. How the basketball program responds will tell the tail how long this malaise will last.

Somebody up there appears to dislike the University of Louisville. Or maybe they dislike all of us fans?

That’s what happens when you get rid of the people who know what they’re doing. However, some of our fans think it was a good idea and now here we are.
