To many fly balls and to many walks by staff.

We are as good or better than Vandy, but didn't bring our A game. Really tough now that we are in the losers bracket... again. Getting to Omaha is great, but time to start doing something when we get there.

I agree 100%. We need to learn to finish. We're still young (Soph) Need to learn mental toughness.

Walks, wild pitches, and passed balls..We gave it away. We had nine hits and that should be enough in that ball park.

First of all, if you watched and followed baseball all year, the one weakness that Funk has is that he walks a lot of guys. Dan depends on our defense to get out of those situations. Funk generally throws 120+ pitches in a game because he tends to get stronger. yes fly balls are an issue with this team as Gardner is really the only long ball threat and considering the team speed. Singles, stolen bases are our game.

Along with moving runners by the bunt...Like we did in the Regional and Super Regional...That's what several other teams (Texas, Cal Irvine etc...), have used to get to Omaha as well!!!

It has been Funk's MO all season to walk too many guys and flirt with danger. As a team you simply can't walk NINE batters have 2 wild pitches and a passed ball against this type of competition and expect to advance.

Funk vowed to clean it up but it still kept getting away from him especially that wild outside hook he kept throwing to Vandy's righties.

Beat Texas!

It is incredibly maddening to watch a game dominated by the drama surrounding a pitcher throwing strikes and balls. Funk will really have to clean this aspect of his game up. It's hard to recall any defensive plays in a game so prominently feature the composure issues of one pitcher. It gives relevance to why Yogi Berra described pitchers this way: "All pitchers are liars or sissies." lol ..............

Exasperating. He will have to learn the lesson any great pitcher learns - your defense is out there for a reason. They are just as good as you are at what they do. Let them in on the action.

I thought we hit really well, actually. Our outs early on were all shots. Both Cole and Gardner - and Lord knows, Kay - ripped the cover off the ball but right at someone. Maybe today, they'll start falling.

Hurts, very disappointing. Will be more difficult to get there from the ACC. But, we'll just have to do it!

Regionals and SuperRegionals at home will be harder to come by IMO, but the elevated level of competition will help us to rain on someone else's party.

The formula for great pitching results at Omaha is to POUND the strike zone, let the batters and your fielders get them out.
Don't put runners on by walk and make other team string together hits because the home run threat is almost non existent.

Funk has to tighten up his control, reduce his pitch count because your No. 1 guy has to get deeper into a game. I'm confident that he will get there because he has improved so much from last year. I'm pretty excited about next year- great starting pitching returning and some real bad ass young hitters.
