The University of Louisville softball team defeated #8 Arkansas 8-4 in the first game of a doubleheader Monday, but the Razorbacks took game two 14-0 to secure the three-game series Monday at Bogle Park on the Arknsas campus

Louisville (8-5) will return to action on Wednesday when the Cardinals travel to Miami (Ohio) to wrap up a 14-game road stretch.

Louisville 8 – No. 10/8 Arkansas 4

Kendall Smith delivered on a three-run home run and Hannah File blasted a two-run homer to help the Cardinals go up 7-0 through the first three innings. Chardonnay Harris (4-2) picked up the win in the circle after surrendering four earned runs on seven hits and striking out two in 6.1 innings.

The Cards took a 2-0 lead behind File’s two-run home run in the top of the second. Taylor Roby reached on an error and was lifted for pinch runner Sydney Bickel to set the table for File’s second home run of the season.

Louisville’s offense continued with five more runs in the third inning -- highlighted by Smith’s three-run homer. Jenna Servi got the frame started with a single and Easton Lotus reached on an error to put two runners on for Carmyn Greenwood’s RBI single. After a base hit by Korbe Otis, Smith smashed her fourth homer of the year over the wall in right centerfield to push the Cardinals’ lead to 7-0

The Cards withstood a late Pigs rally to get the win.

Arkansas 14 – Louisville 0

Hannah File and Ally Alexander registered hits for the Cardinals, but Louisville was unable to push a run across as the Cardinals were shut out for the first time this season.

Arkansas (9-4) quickly got on the scoreboard with a pair of unearned runs in the first and added eight more in the second. A four-run fourth made the score 14-0.

Roby (2-2) took the loss, allowing four runs, two earned on four hits in 1.1 innings.
